[00:02:14] so glad you are here to join us this trip down memory lane. We love that the family is back
[00:02:20] together again. Welcome back to the Lost Girl rewatch podcast. This is podcast episode number
[00:02:30] nine. We are super excited aren't we Rachel? Because we are very excited because we have a super
[00:02:38] special, a very special guest who you can hear giggling. Can you guess who she is? She's about
[00:02:43] to come on screen. Miss Erica Latrell. Yeah. It is really good to have you here Erica.
[00:02:55] Oh it's so good to be here. I thought I was already on screen. I was all like
[00:02:59] we can bring you on screen earlier late but I love the giggle. I love the giggle.
[00:03:08] So yeah so we're here to talk about basically episode 17 in season two The Girl Who Fade
[00:03:15] With Fire it was written by Emily Andrus and directed by Brett Sullivan. Now Brett,
[00:03:20] do you guys remember Brett Sullivan? Well Rachel you weren't there. I think he was like
[00:03:23] John Fawcett's best friend or something or he was an editor or something. It was I think it
[00:03:27] was his first time directing our show but he was I remember him being really awesome and energetic.
[00:03:32] I don't know if you remember because it was a long time ago. You do? I remember that.
[00:03:37] In fact, well no honestly I might be getting a flash of somebody else
[00:03:42] who directed maybe the last episode of this season. How many episodes
[00:03:45] who were you in of Lost Girl? Two just two. Just those two. But there was one fellow who
[00:03:52] had kind of he was kind of edgy. Wait you were only in two episodes for the whole series?
[00:03:57] Yeah. Stop it. Really? It feels like you were in so much more because you had these really big
[00:04:06] sweeping episodes because my memory I mean I worked with you on the other episode then
[00:04:13] because it was when you kind of because what I love about Val is that she kind of starts out as
[00:04:19] not part of the gang and then joins the gang. So it's the joining of the gang that I remember
[00:04:25] working with you the most because I think we had like a moment in this episode.
[00:04:31] Yeah but not like but you were so... Wait a shitty moment or a good moment? I mean a good
[00:04:36] did you know that it would be two episodes when you auditioned?
[00:04:42] Pick up balloons for yourself. Honestly, for anyone... Wait a minute do I remember which one
[00:04:48] was back here? Oh okay but just first if anyone listening knows how to turn off this stupid
[00:04:53] fucking balloon. I know I think that's the news. I don't think it'll do that mine because
[00:04:57] it's not I know it's ridiculous or firework. Okay so I was gonna ask one I want to hear your
[00:05:05] audition story if you have one and two when you auditioned did you know that you were going to be
[00:05:10] on two episodes? Did you just think it was going to be one how did that work?
[00:05:13] I didn't know and well I will go back even further so I had a friend of mine who had told
[00:05:19] me to watch the show she was like oh it's like you love it because I was I don't know how
[00:05:23] you guys feel about the Buffy comparison whenever but I was like yeah I'm like a full nerd I have like
[00:05:30] all kinds of like fantasy sci-fi things they're like so I had watched a shit ton of Buffy when that
[00:05:34] was on and my friend was like oh it's like gay well like Buffy and you're gonna love it
[00:05:40] and I was like I don't I can't do it again like literally I was so spent from like my
[00:05:46] deep involvement in the emotional world of that show and I was like I can't call on that
[00:05:51] don't make me do it also I but what was brilliant about that was that when I got the audition
[00:05:59] so I was like I was so being relieved because I was like if I had been watching it I would have
[00:06:05] been too much of a fan probably to like pull my shit together to do a good job so I was actually
[00:06:12] and then I watched it once I got and I was like oh this is wonderful thank god
[00:06:18] that would be weird to audition for something that you have like invested in that would be weird
[00:06:24] like I was in an episode of Buffy and I was such a creeper I was so weird
[00:06:30] you were in an episode of Buffy's so I was it was that episode I don't know if you
[00:06:37] want you watch it watch it after Angel died
[00:06:46] you understand I was so impressed with and then he died and I was like it's done for me I can't do it
[00:06:52] and then now I'm kind of have this regret because everyone is like you miss Spike anyway not a Buffy
[00:06:58] miss Spike during this season it was like a no I think wait how many seasons of Buffy were there
[00:07:04] six five something like that right and so what what did you what did you play
[00:07:14] funnily enough I played somebody who was a fan of somebody
[00:07:20] there was a kid it was an alternate universe episode seven seasons where Jonathan in the
[00:07:25] fourth season who was like the nerd in the show like he somehow made a wish or something and then
[00:07:31] like became essentially like the Buffy of his of that you know and like switched everything around
[00:07:36] and so I was like oh my god you know like screw you Buffy whoever you are you know
[00:07:42] wasn't like an attack by a big creature yeah of course a creature yeah so you as it as it is
[00:07:48] but I just remember being on that set and being like just like wandering the stage
[00:07:55] I got it I feel like we had a tiny bit of that later in on lost girl like later seasons because by
[00:08:02] then people had seen the show so we would get maybe a guest star that you could tell also loved
[00:08:08] at the show which is great but you could see like if people kind of were like oh my god you know
[00:08:13] no like this is a to me it's like just a perfect example of how I've sort of carried forward in
[00:08:19] my career because I was like oh thank god I didn't get myself involved in the show because I was able
[00:08:24] to really enjoy my experience against no you guys without having like all kinds of fun you know
[00:08:28] stuff behind and so yes I auditioned but via tape to fully ask your question from LA I was
[00:08:34] an LA at the time but you know Canadian citizen also so um and I did like a whole
[00:08:39] friggin thing I like humped a chair like oh my god I would love to see that tape now wait
[00:08:46] you have to chair because I got it you have it you know I have to tell you I have my tape
[00:08:53] too from lost girl I have my bow audition tape which is crazy I like went all I think I put
[00:08:59] war like red contacts I think I because I just loved sci-fi fantasy I just like when you could
[00:09:05] send us like just a snippet of that tape you could share you got amazing oh my god
[00:09:16] did you know Casey Collins before I didn't okay no you guys are so such good siblings
[00:09:25] like right away we are on screen you can see the right like you see the history and the
[00:09:31] rivalry and the poking at each other and picking at each other with the 20 I this yeah no I didn't
[00:09:38] or but I feel like we you know we had a good relationship on set for that that period of time
[00:09:43] it was just well I love it's funny how go ahead I was going to say to me that what it was like no
[00:09:51] outside clothes what like what a bed or something like there were just like very quirky things
[00:09:58] that we ended up talking about he talked about water water from the top versus what yeah cleaner
[00:10:04] then there was like something about um no clothes that are dirty from outside of the bed to this day
[00:10:09] I carry that with me I'm like I tell say my wife I can't I can't do it I can't tell you why are
[00:10:14] you on the bed in James war yeah why I fully carried that forward from life so he said it is
[00:10:22] in my head now I can't get it out of it very specific uh lifestyle habits and they're they are
[00:10:31] they are kind of contagious you know he wants hand lotion and lip balm and yes it's like yeah
[00:10:39] it's not it's not like it's like a genie it comes from a place of honesty for him so you just kind
[00:10:44] of go oh that's the thing that they're they're not you know some people have eccentricities to
[00:10:49] be cool or whatever that's not easy like though that's literally just like from his core that it's
[00:10:55] his it's kind of his preference on things like he's like no this is who I am so there's there's
[00:10:59] something about it that I always find I always find that so refreshing I'm so I'm so I think
[00:11:08] susceptible to things like that though too so you know like all superstitious things my wife
[00:11:13] gets so pissed at me when I'm like why are you putting a hat on the bed so until we know
[00:11:18] it's bad look everything doesn't matter it's like if someone comes to me with like an earnest thing
[00:11:25] and I'm like they must know that's right you know it's good don't get off my nose I'm mildly OCD
[00:11:30] guys I swear to god it's not I think everyone is to a degree I I certainly am but I remember he's
[00:11:35] like like I love when people are like they he knows who he is and that's what I love like he
[00:11:41] knows who he is I can't remember who it was and maybe it was one of my husband's friends he was
[00:11:47] like yeah I don't like sauce and I was like you don't like sauce like just us on things I don't
[00:11:53] like sauce no sauce and I thought god like do I know myself well enough to know if I like sauce
[00:12:01] like I want to know myself so well that I could be like I don't like sauce
[00:12:05] and it just I don't like male that we don't like we have bonded on that Rachel wait what are you not
[00:12:12] like mayo anything that looks like a male now like smells like male with sap aside male you know what
[00:12:19] I'm thinking lately making me want to bond in my mind something about the description coupled with
[00:12:24] your expression I know I won't tell you what I'm eating lightly then because it will just gross
[00:12:28] both of you out but if you had to know it's called cheese did you know
[00:12:38] did you know that you were going to be in multiple episodes or did you just think of a salon
[00:12:44] I thought it might just be the one but then there was talk about more you know how it is
[00:12:48] shows like it was just kind of oh maybe and like Jane was like oh we're gonna do this whole thing
[00:12:54] and then but some of it but not honestly your presence on the show felt bigger than
[00:13:01] then the screen time then because I mean you were this this episode introduces you so well
[00:13:08] because we we started in the beginning you know reminding the audience that hail comes from
[00:13:14] clan Zamora and you know that how he feels about his father you can see how he feels about
[00:13:19] his father and so I love this build up to meeting your family and then I love how we come and meet
[00:13:23] you and you're sitting there just like playing the piano like just like because that's what you do all
[00:13:28] the time with your beautiful posture and just like playing the piano because that's what Val would
[00:13:37] be doing and I love I love your power but I also love the way your body language around your
[00:13:43] own power because it was so like just like casual you know like you didn't make it like a power that
[00:13:49] you had to like work hard to achieve which was really informed the character of just your
[00:13:58] confidence in what you do which I loved say yes no it was so good thank listen this
[00:14:07] this character she like is so like she's not subtle in her affection for Dyson
[00:14:17] I'm sorry I was just rewatching the episode this morning and my poor wife watched it because it's
[00:14:21] the sex one okay so that love scene that love scene was what day of filming was that do you
[00:14:31] remember was it like your first day no please god today they wasn't your first day no it wasn't
[00:14:35] the first day and it's so funny well because it was my first sex scene I was so excited I was like
[00:14:45] because I've been an actor guys since I was like I know and I want to ask you about that I was like
[00:14:49] doing wait a minute what were you saying when each of you were asking right did you say how long
[00:14:53] have you well you how long you guys have I been an actor yeah uh Anna was I was she was I
[00:15:00] was late I was super late I didn't even move to the big city till I was 25 so I started when I was
[00:15:08] about 25 just even starting like I had done it as a kid but in my hometown but not professionally
[00:15:17] like theater productions and I had done some local commercials I mean yeah you know very local
[00:15:25] yeah are we and um and then I worked as crew on three movies before I moved up to Toronto
[00:15:32] and then I was pursuing acting because that's what I really wanted to do but I was like a late
[00:15:36] bloomer I would say very late bloomer what I was 12 but not as young as you you were 12 yeah
[00:15:44] I mean I but you know it's not like I took myself yeah no I started so did your parents
[00:15:50] want you to do my parents you know they're like we have some cute kids kind of thing like you know
[00:15:54] it's just like that kind of thing and so it was I enjoyed it up to a point but there was like a
[00:15:59] point in my life where I definitely had to like reassess like in my 20s I was like dude can I
[00:16:04] choose this for myself like I somehow knew obviously the industry is so fickle that you
[00:16:08] can't really leave it and come back so I was like trying to kind of leaned back a bit
[00:16:14] and then um a lot of the voice stuff that I do a lot of now took off in that time and that sort of
[00:16:20] reminded me that sort of showed me what it is I love about it you know the creating of worlds and
[00:16:27] these kind of really sort of things that can change people's perspective showing people to
[00:16:31] themselves all that kind of stuff because it's so pared down doing boys it's just you soundboard
[00:16:36] person director like you're not um and that reminds so then I leaned back into it and
[00:16:41] so like I was like it was my early 30s I guess that I did um lost girl and and so on and so I was like
[00:16:47] pretty yeah that was exciting huh it was around that time that you leaned back into acting it was
[00:16:55] yeah it was just kind of around that time but then I had to like cope with anxiety like I had all
[00:16:59] this kind of stuff from like being a child actor so that's the funny because I rewatched the episode
[00:17:04] and I'm like oh my god I was so nervous oh Jesus Christ
[00:17:08] listen it doesn't it does not come across but but of course you were nervous because
[00:17:13] you're a human being with feelings and you have to come onto a show and be this like
[00:17:20] character that just I remember I guest starred on a show once and when I got there like I had
[00:17:25] auditioned for the part they gave me the part like they gave me the part me so you think they
[00:17:30] want me and then when I got there they were like Judas like Angelina Jolie I was like
[00:17:36] what could you not you should not offer it to her because like that's it was so much pressure
[00:17:42] it was so much pressure I'm like why tell me that don't tell me that you know um well that's
[00:17:49] like it wasn't the director I put it to me the director was very upset that they
[00:17:53] it's told me that but um but like it's a big it's it takes a lot of I don't know if I want to
[00:18:03] say courage or I don't know what it is to show up and play a character like Val
[00:18:08] and do it the way that you did you didn't look nervous which is but but you looked like
[00:18:15] a whole person so you didn't look like this one note I like to chase my brother's best friends
[00:18:23] and have sex with them in the basement like that's because that's like one note of the character but
[00:18:27] there was like reasons and it felt you felt fully fleshed out right even if that was your only episode
[00:18:32] it felt complete great and that's what was so compelling to watch but yes your love scene oh
[00:18:39] my god like you I wrote down some of your lines like Dyson come back anytime you feel like
[00:18:43] something sweet I was like oh my god and it was the other one um oh if you want to feel
[00:18:50] something for a change come find me I'm like yeah he's coming back he's coming back and he did
[00:18:58] and and his line to hail of like don't take this a thing man like what that was so undecided like
[00:19:04] that was hysterical I know I know it was uh but it was it's not you know
[00:19:20] so do you have any what I was gonna ask you where any of the flu that day I'd know
[00:19:25] you had a terrible cold twisted oh yeah I remember that there's always something when
[00:19:31] your I know I was sorry and he was like taking my tamaflu like did you get sick do you remember
[00:19:41] all right I didn't I got a lot of beard burn but I did not get sick I I had her burn was near to me
[00:19:50] I've had some beard burn from mr. Holden read myself he was trying to coach me through and
[00:19:56] he's like you can't press that hard because you're gonna it's gonna be you know I was like oh
[00:20:03] I don't know this thing I was Chris is a gentleman that is true anyway for asking me a question I just
[00:20:09] yammered right no I mean so yeah I was gonna ask you where you were in your career at this point
[00:20:14] but you you answered that question so did that did coming back yeah what was your experience like
[00:20:21] filming the show both episodes because what we've done um looking at season two Erica's we've a lot
[00:20:27] of people on like yourself that were a big part of the show that had you know arcs so whether
[00:20:33] they did two episodes or 10 they had some sort of arc on the show so we've been kind of talking
[00:20:38] about their their experience as a whole on the show and so what what do you what memories do you have
[00:20:44] good or bad hopefully not too many bad and um but but that's okay to share um and what what do you
[00:20:51] remember most about it oh god I mean I remember having like I mean it's so fucking cliche I need
[00:20:59] to stop like you know but I remember having so much fun guys you guys were great but it was
[00:21:05] like you know I remember shooting that avatar which actually was somewhat nauseating and in the last
[00:21:11] episode that's because it's like when someone tells you what you're walking into and then you're like
[00:21:15] yep the smell of the blood I was on the floor at one point on that in that avatar so she passed
[00:21:20] on me had a fan blowing on me and I thought and like stuff was like sticking to my lip gloss and
[00:21:25] I thought this is this is awesome stuff yeah was stuff from that floor I feel like I'm super
[00:21:33] human now I'm my immune system it was stuff I don't know what it was but yes I have I can I can
[00:21:39] feel that space age old slaughtered apple that's nice I know that's good so you know I remember the
[00:21:48] smell of the avatar so that goes under bad let's let's file that under bad
[00:21:55] yeah that was in the best have weird burn bad a beer lesson life lesson so bad avatar life
[00:22:08] lesson life lesson late learns yeah early 30s first beard you know I remember I think I mentioned
[00:22:22] two ones that I remember the mr fuzzy the fluffy big thing
[00:22:29] I was like
[00:22:34] I've never encountered before or since a lighting setup like that like they just wheel in this
[00:22:40] giant rectangle to create it because my wife was saying today she's like this show is so dark
[00:22:45] it's just dark it's like they shot entirely in the dark I was like actually
[00:22:51] there was a very specific lighting there was mr fluffy and I have to say
[00:22:54] I think mr fluffy made us all look pretty darn good there was that wall I mean it just like
[00:23:01] towards the end I was like oh mr fluffy because you know you're so tired you just a mess your
[00:23:07] your makeup is like staying on your face at this point but you're like fluffy
[00:23:11] totally all yeah just follow me everywhere man I don't have to sit in front of these doors
[00:23:21] in order to look evenly lit and not scary monster like from the side you know it's David Green is
[00:23:29] a really good friend of mine he was the DP and he has told me how to make my own fluffy at home
[00:23:35] for like tape real stuff yeah yeah I haven't done it but he has told me how to how to
[00:23:42] make my own fluffy I was like in case you need to take one side of your house no I'm just kidding
[00:23:48] but he has told me I will tell you guys I'll give you the the uh at home fluffy technique yeah

[00:25:42] prepared for to be like so much more involved like it was involved I like how it turned out
[00:25:48] and I like what they did but it was like all just kind of so hurried and passionate but
[00:25:52] there was supposed to be like more nudity or something so I was like oh my god it's like
[00:25:56] a nude scene like again me who is like a child actor and like kids shows I was like wing out
[00:26:01] of you to be like schmacky they're like this is what he's gonna be wearing it's gonna be this sock
[00:26:09] and you're gonna be wearing it I was like okay but that's not what so I remember that I remember
[00:26:18] wardrobe like prepping me for like kind of how it was gonna go on the day but that's you know
[00:26:23] things change right I think I mean it didn't need gosh nudity that scene like it didn't no
[00:26:29] it's already so fleshy you know I feel like I keep doing those now now I've like since I was on a show
[00:26:36] and I did like a friggin like washing machine and like a public what you know same kind of thing
[00:26:43] throw her up on the dryer guys I'm like what is this is my thing
[00:26:47] I don't know what I'm saying and I legitimately I don't think I played a gay person I find that
[00:26:55] also quite astonishing yeah like on camera no like I just continue to be cast as like a
[00:27:04] if there's like a love scene involved I'm like kind of that sort of thing is you know
[00:27:09] no I shouldn't say it's interesting because I feel like until recently there actually weren't
[00:27:14] a lot of shows that had a lot of gay characters so it's not that crazy that you didn't but recently
[00:27:22] I think that there have been more shows do you audition for those parts do you audition for queer
[00:27:27] character do I have yeah and I'm always like cool okay I mean I am not queer but I can tell you
[00:27:37] I much prefer to play them on television because man kissing a chick is so much nicer than kissing a guy
[00:27:45] is it just the beard burn what are we talking about yeah Chris really he really not rude or
[00:27:51] forby but he always just a play in his face and then you go to Anna yeah off lips and very little
[00:27:57] beer burn I mean probably not very little you know fluffy covered up yeah I made out with
[00:28:14] so many people on Lost Girl that I I mean I don't know that I would do that now I don't know that
[00:28:20] anyone wants to see me make out with 50 people now but I certainly did then and and you do
[00:28:27] have you ever counted how many people you made out with on Lost Girl but I do remember one day in
[00:28:41] season one they scheduled three scenes with three different people in one day that I made out with
[00:28:50] and I was like guys you know like we know this wasn't a good idea I'm like it's really not a good
[00:28:55] idea like these poor guesters coming in they might only have two lines with me and I'm like
[00:29:01] you're the my third for the day you know like it just it was a it was it was kind of but I don't
[00:29:06] know how many people I made out with but I made out with Zoe and Chris the most I've I've kissed
[00:29:13] lovely Rachel here which is beautiful and lovely as well
[00:29:26] but Zoe and Chris the most and like I know them so well and I knew them so well so it was like
[00:29:31] you know we had we had it down we had it down but rewatching this show when I see a love scene
[00:29:37] that is with someone else I'm like oh my god what happened like I can't remember and it's just like wow
[00:29:45] fluffy was flattering let's say that fluffy was very flattering um and I'm very grateful to fluffy
[00:29:53] I love okay let me see here you're okay your stuff every scene you had with Chris was good by
[00:29:58] the way not just the love scene but the lead up to it those scenes were so good yeah yeah
[00:30:04] it was such a good episode for Chris too because he goes in in this episode he's kind of falls out
[00:30:09] of favor with his best friend which is a huge deal in the next episode is this the first
[00:30:14] yes that happens he's just sort of slipping up the next episode he's really kind of hitting rock
[00:30:18] bottom and hitting skipping town again but um yeah uh and I love yeah I love hail punching
[00:30:27] Dyson and I'm at the end changed his mind and uh I just I think it was it was a great episode for
[00:30:37] Casey Collins as well you know and I love the man that played your father yeah he seemed like he
[00:30:43] would be your father you and hail's father you know yeah um yeah yeah god the resident in his voice
[00:30:51] forgot where did we film all of that like oh this guy very much feels like a
[00:30:58] supernatural something like where did he come from um I don't remember where we filmed that
[00:31:04] you like that whole sequence were we at u of t for some of it oh god I don't even know
[00:31:12] dude you can't see here's the problem right now is that I have mom brain also so it's like
[00:31:17] it is real it is real you could ask me what happened yesterday and I'd be like wasn't that today
[00:31:26] you I have to think of how young my children were like were they in diapers when that happened or
[00:31:30] were they out of diapers when that happened because like the time just so yeah so actually
[00:31:35] speaking of being a mom yes what um what has your experience been working and being a mom
[00:31:44] I mean it's cute I don't you know it's cute I mean I have like I have my little like I have my home
[00:31:55] my voice over like boo this massive white thing is like nice so I can oh okay yeah I love it
[00:32:03] before we're getting it's like a sound oh a sound booth oh my god like a whole
[00:32:09] booth situation you know um so I can like record certain things yeah um from home
[00:32:18] as far as that's concerned and so I've had my son my my eldest he's oh god here I am
[00:32:25] how old is your eldest now center me two yeah um two yeah so he'll come he I've had him come in
[00:32:31] there and sort of like look around and I put the headphones on him and had him record something
[00:32:36] small he's very cute and shy about it I um it's so interesting though because he's he's a very cute
[00:32:42] kid I will not post him but he's like adorable and I have like by manager he was like whenever
[00:32:48] you're ready I'm like yeah he's never gonna happen yeah never gonna happen it's just because
[00:32:55] I feel like people actors specifically feel very strongly one where the other like if you were a
[00:33:01] child actor either you're totally it's like a natural thing for you to put your child's intacting or
[00:33:08] like you and I absolutely not I mean I was in a child actor but I'm an absolutely not kind of person
[00:33:13] if one of my sons really wanted to do it yeah sure but like we've been asked before to
[00:33:19] like hey would you know your kids are so they're so chatty impersonable would they ever want
[00:33:23] I'm like no they're adorable I don't want like it's just not necessary no you know
[00:33:29] no I'm not just like putting and the thing is is you know it's such these formative years right
[00:33:33] like between like one and five right I don't want to just be like just yeah whatever be around a bunch
[00:33:39] of people who depend on you performing for their livelihoods and mortgages like it's just
[00:33:45] it's a weird it's a weird pressure I don't want that tension around and look hey you can start at 25
[00:33:51] and end up having your own show there you go you could be a late bloomer
[00:33:59] and you whatever shows you choose and you don't it does not have to be acting you just I just want
[00:34:03] them to like yeah I'd like him to choose it like it's something and then I can like explain to
[00:34:08] them what's beautiful about it and not necessarily just have them be swept up in like a world
[00:34:15] you know because of beauty or something and like have it not have any like a be entirely contingent
[00:34:22] on surface you know I don't want I want them to know that it is if if it is that it is intrinsically
[00:34:30] satisfying to them so that they can look past like the grossness that can sometimes exist in any
[00:34:38] business you know but um if you know why you're doing it then then you might not fall victim so like
[00:34:45] yeah you know well that's one of the very few industries and and businesses and it is a business
[00:34:52] yeah allows child labor I know I said this I'm like no I'm not for a reason it's literally
[00:35:00] it is 100% there's no people who glamorize it whatever but I'm like and it's totally
[00:35:06] to tell you one of the first movies that I worked on as a crew so in my hometown
[00:35:12] yeah and I kid was one of the stars of the movie I was so naive you guys like really if you can
[00:35:18] believe it and it's hard to believe me having never left my hometown I'm just so naive hard to
[00:35:23] believe I know but I was an ad and one of my jobs one of my jobs was to take a big fat envelope
[00:35:32] cash to his parents at night and I and the first time I did it I said it on the walkie I was like
[00:35:39] I just gave the big envelope of cash to so-and-so's parents and then I everyone was like running at me
[00:35:44] like you can't tell you can't say that on the mic like this no no no no you can't and I was like
[00:35:48] why like I had no clue I didn't realize they were paying what I was giving the parents money
[00:35:54] to work the kid longer than he was supposed to be working yeah because that's the kind of
[00:36:01] stuff I know they were being paid under the table to keep him on set longer than they were supposed to
[00:36:07] it's so weird and I was like I'm never thinking like huh this doesn't feel right now you know
[00:36:14] but I just didn't it didn't dawn on me what that really meant that's what everyone's experience
[00:36:21] I want to say that anyone listening like my mom didn't take wads and cash when I was 12
[00:36:28] of course yeah the problem is that when you are an adult you can advocate for yourself when
[00:36:36] you're a child your parent advocates for you if you're lucky I was lucky to have a good parent
[00:36:41] who advocated well for me right yes but if you're not then it can be really bad the other thing
[00:36:48] to I will say is that the business can also put pressure on parents in ways I'm not saying that
[00:36:54] I'm not defending these parents I but I'm just saying there's pressure like we've almost got the shot
[00:37:00] you know can't we just stay another 15 and then you're the one you're the best
[00:37:04] I mean that pressure is everywhere I just remember that was like my first experience of like oh this
[00:37:08] can be a little I don't know I feel like it's just how can you be like a beautiful wonderful and
[00:37:16] I get you know I love my mom but like in that environment to your point about pressure
[00:37:24] under that set of circumstances you're choosing between you know oh my kid maybe is tired or
[00:37:33] doesn't want to do this thing really really like yeah you know I was done eating the twizzlers guys
[00:37:41] yeah but I have to keep eating them I feel like both of you ladies and myself and anyone because
[00:37:50] for everyone listening Erica and I have done many hours of class together acting class together
[00:37:57] which I don't think you know it's funny because I feel like yeah that's probably why another
[00:38:02] reason why I feel like you're in more than two episodes of lost girl because I have witnessed
[00:38:07] you in your most vulnerable moments or many of many vulnerable moments as you've witnessed me
[00:38:14] in that room together we spent yeah a lot of time and I feel like yeah when acting is something that
[00:38:21] you still want to be doing especially for you guys who started doing it when you were really young
[00:38:25] it's there's something about people that are still in it that still have that dreamer
[00:38:32] essence to them they still they still come at it from a place of it hits them in their heart
[00:38:38] still and so they you know we go through phases where our hearts are crushed and we have nothing to
[00:38:43] give but when it's when we kind of raise our heads again it's because we feel like we have something
[00:38:48] to say again and what acting becomes exciting again and if it's not that for people then
[00:38:55] they should not be doing it because the other side of it is so you know mean and hurtful
[00:39:03] but you know I feel like people that stick around that still pulses through them and I see it in both
[00:39:10] of you in terms of just watching you well that's good because my only other job was like working
[00:39:17] at something and I was a bartender for a long time and a waitress but it was not the greatest
[00:39:26] bartender I'll tell you that but um but I I love it still you know I love it I I feel like I have
[00:39:34] a voice again and I haven't felt that in many many years mostly because my focus has been
[00:39:39] some you know mom I've been a mom which you're both moms and it's just really been
[00:39:48] not my heart was not in acting as much you know but it is again now and that's exciting to me
[00:39:56] great um yeah wonderful yeah no I mean I completely like me having my kids it's like well what's
[00:40:02] there's nothing more yeah it's anything more extraordinary or worthy of my spirit and time
[00:40:12] and energy these little people like it's so fulfilling at such a deep level you know even when
[00:40:20] it's hard that I can't even but um I do think that art um and the art of acting like you know
[00:40:30] it shows people the things I get the stuff I get most excited about seeing is the stuff that's really
[00:40:35] sort of like current present like showing us to ourselves now uh you know and that like really
[00:40:42] just hits me right then the best actors can can telegraph that so beautifully and I you know I want
[00:40:48] to I I love being a part of that at its best yeah yep I agree well Miss Latrell this was lovely
[00:41:00] you are so lovely beautiful inside and out um I know the fans are going to be super excited
[00:41:09] to hear from you um and we really appreciate you taking this time with us and um that's my pleasure
[00:41:15] I can't wait to see what you do next in every aspect of your life same and I know
[00:41:22] the reaction fans are same and they are same I know well me but also for you you guys oh come on
[00:41:30] now I'm very excited to see what you guys do next thank you and thank you everyone thank you
[00:41:36] everyone for listening um and we will see you guys on the next one hello guys as you can see I
[00:41:43] have changed locations uh because I got kicked out of my other one we are back um and we just had such
[00:41:53] a lovely time speaking with Erica who we adore and we wanted to make sure though that we covered
[00:42:01] the other episode in this episode so Anna would you like to to see that episode 18
[00:42:08] Fainted Love written by Shelly Scarrow and directed by Michael Decarlo so this is the one where Ryan
[00:42:15] comes back Bo needs to heal she needs a booty call she brings Ryan back yeah um yeah and it's
[00:42:22] it's fun to have Ryan back because he's so much fun he was so much fun to perform with
[00:42:26] so he kind of comes back in and we both get our memories wiped out and almost get married
[00:42:32] and blah blah blah but what's great is again how much respect they have for each other
[00:42:36] when they both realize they've been sort of brainwashed and have to come apart again
[00:42:41] I just love that that dynamic that Bo and Ryan had um but what was really incredible in this episode
[00:42:48] performance wise was the guy who played like the Hannibal Lecter dude and I think his name
[00:42:54] is Oliver Becker I looked in the credits very quickly so I'm hope I'm getting that right
[00:42:58] but he so Chris has all those scenes with him and it's like he's like the Hannibal Lecter
[00:43:04] and gets into Chris's brain and he also has that crazy power with his eyes do like a you know
[00:43:10] like what's it called in a camera like an old-fashioned camera like the shutter the shutter exactly so his
[00:43:16] eyes do that it's so creepy and this actor was so good like I had forgotten every single
[00:43:23] star on the show I know but like watching this and it must have taken them they honestly
[00:43:28] probably only shot for one day they were in one location but it would have been the whole
[00:43:31] day and it would have been a big day for both of those actors and they were phenomenal of course
[00:43:36] Chris was phenomenal but this guest star was really exceptional um there was also a lot of
[00:43:41] really funny one-liners in this episode I have to say I really like um I like trick saying I
[00:43:49] like Kenzie saying something about like is this the part where I you know leave town and I'm
[00:43:54] estranged from my family and I have to fight with a bunch of strippers or something and he
[00:43:58] says something like you're not living in the plot of show girls or something I'm not making it funny
[00:44:04] but it was very funny in the episode and it was just funny that trick is the one who said it
[00:44:09] if you hear trick say it it's pretty funny um there was already good one-liners in the whole
[00:44:16] there was season the whole show yes like I feel like lost girl was the king of one-liners
[00:44:23] we got a lot of one-liners I know um but the bigger story here in terms of just the show and this
[00:44:31] season is that Bo thinks that because she was bleeding when Ryan came to give her the booty call
[00:44:40] because if she was injured that her blood getting on him is what affected his brain
[00:44:46] and so that gives her a clue where the very last scene which I loved between her and trick
[00:44:53] when she says like one day soon I'm going to come to you and I'm going to want real honest answers
[00:45:00] and he says okay I'll give them to you and he's and she says I'm not ready yet basically but
[00:45:05] I'm coming soon and I want the want the truth and it's so like she knows there's more to her
[00:45:11] she's knows she's more powerful she knows trick has answers so that's kind of where that episode
[00:45:15] leaves off and takes us into the final few what I have a question yes why this could sound like I
[00:45:25] have not seen this series but I have but why why does trick withhold this from her like why does he
[00:45:34] withhold things from her it's not like you guys aren't in each other's lives it's not like you
[00:45:38] don't know about like the world I think because Bo is so like such a key player in the fey world
[00:45:47] and because she has this they know how powerful she is and she doesn't quite know it yet I feel
[00:45:54] like trick is all I think it's just protection he's always bringing her so um
[00:46:00] you know I feel like if she had known these things early on it would have been too much
[00:46:08] she would not have been able to handle it coming from where she came from
[00:46:12] you did you know no not really and you were filming like what because when we'll get to
[00:46:19] this next season but I didn't really know a lot about my character but my character was supposed
[00:46:26] to have known those things about herself now your character was not supposed to have known them herself
[00:46:32] but and you also didn't know no I mean I had little hints here and there where things would go
[00:46:41] and I knew ultimately I'd reach some kind of peak you know um just because the show was called
[00:46:49] lost girl and that's who I played but so I knew that there was something bigger coming
[00:46:55] in the in the world but um but I didn't know exactly what it was going to be and I didn't know
[00:47:04] that it would essentially come down to the fight against good and evil which is very like
[00:47:10] simple in the simplest terms but that's really what it comes down to in the end
[00:47:15] and I just love that Bo leads the charge but that season five well that season you'll have
