[00:00:12] My name is Anna Silk. For six seasons, I played Bo on the hit TV series, Lost Girl.
[00:00:18] And my name is Rachel Scarston. For three seasons, I played Tamsin.
[00:00:23] Welcome to the Lost Girl Rewatch Podcast. A show where we will look at all the episodes,
[00:00:28] share some behind-the-scenes stories, and chat with some very special guests.
[00:00:33] On the show, our relationship was sometimes rocky.
[00:00:37] But in life, our friendship is rock solid.
[00:00:40] We are so glad you are here to join us for this trip down memory lane.
[00:00:45] We love that the family is back together again.
[00:01:00] Back to the Lost Girl Rewatch Podcast, where we talk about all things Lost Girl episodes.
[00:01:07] And this episode is Season 3, Episode 2. Nothing of note happens in this episode,
[00:01:17] so thank you for joining us.
[00:01:19] Oh yeah, right! This is the episode that I have been the most excited about,
[00:01:28] for obvious reasons.
[00:01:29] I know, I can stop being a bystander.
[00:01:32] Yeah. You're no longer on this podcast without being on the screen.
[00:01:39] I know, I'm in it.
[00:01:42] Tamsin, we meet Tamsin.
[00:01:45] We meet Tamsin.
[00:01:45] Oh my God.
[00:01:46] Tamsin.
[00:01:47] Tamsin.
[00:01:47] So, I mean, this episode, written by Steve Cochran, who was always one of my favorites.
[00:01:55] Yeah, I always felt wrote...
[00:01:58] I loved his writing for Tamsin.
[00:02:00] Me too.
[00:02:00] I loved his writing for Bo too.
[00:02:01] I mean, I loved all our writers. There was different things, but there was something...
[00:02:04] No, no, for sure.
[00:02:04] But I sometimes wondered...
[00:02:05] There was a strength in him.
[00:02:07] Yeah. If like, what came first, the chicken or the egg? Because he wrote the first episode of
[00:02:12] Tamsin and then continued to write her really well? Was it because he'd written that first episode?
[00:02:17] Or did he always just get that character and happen to write the first episode with her in it?
[00:02:22] Yeah.
[00:02:23] You know, I don't know.
[00:02:23] Yeah.
[00:02:23] But I always loved... I remember always loving his episodes.
[00:02:27] Yeah, me too. I just think he has a way to write really strong women that...
[00:02:36] They cut through a lot of bullshit.
[00:02:38] Yeah.
[00:02:38] They just get right to it.
[00:02:39] Yeah.
[00:02:40] And I feel like that is the very definition of Tamsin.
[00:02:43] The essence.
[00:02:43] The essence.
[00:02:44] If you could bottle, it would... If it bottle, you would be called no bullshit.
[00:02:48] Yeah.
[00:02:49] I don't know what it would smell like.
[00:02:51] Or like a whole lot of bullshit.
[00:02:52] Yeah. Or a whole lot.
[00:02:53] It depends on which side of the bottle you're at.
[00:02:54] Whether she likes you or not.
[00:02:56] Yeah, exactly. Exactly.
[00:02:58] So yes.
[00:02:59] So we meet Tamsin and your entrance.
[00:03:04] Tell us about... Okay.
[00:03:05] Well, I actually remember what your first day of filming was.
[00:03:07] So you can discuss this in whatever order you want.
[00:03:10] I was trying to remember that.
[00:03:12] Was it in the cop shop?
[00:03:14] That was my first.
[00:03:15] Yes.
[00:03:15] Yeah.
[00:03:15] So the entrance was not my...
[00:03:17] So basically how it works, and we've talked about this a bit before, but you'll film everything
[00:03:21] that's in one location.
[00:03:24] So it could be at the beginning of the episode or the end of the episode, but you're filming
[00:03:27] it all on the same day.
[00:03:28] So I think I actually only worked...
[00:03:32] I think I worked like three days that episode because I was in the warehouse with the alligator
[00:03:36] man.
[00:03:37] Yeah.
[00:03:38] Which I'll talk about later because I just remember being on set being like,
[00:03:41] what show is this?
[00:03:43] What is happening?
[00:03:44] Where am I?
[00:03:45] What is going on?
[00:03:46] There's a guy in an alligator costume.
[00:03:49] He's dead.
[00:03:50] I'm dead.
[00:03:51] But yeah, I remember being quite nervous as one always is when they get into a new show.
[00:04:01] And I think it's funny because I just kept thinking re-watching it.
[00:04:06] I mean, one, I was so young.
[00:04:09] I know we've talked about that about everyone else, but then your face comes on and you're
[00:04:12] like, what?
[00:04:13] What?
[00:04:13] I know.
[00:04:14] I know.
[00:04:15] Because I remember it like it wasn't that long ago.
[00:04:18] But I look at myself and I'm like, I was a baby.
[00:04:21] Like at the end when Chris kissed me, I was like, this is wrong.
[00:04:25] Yeah.
[00:04:26] No.
[00:04:27] I know.
[00:04:27] So you were in your twenties.
[00:04:30] I was 27 maybe.
[00:04:34] My God.
[00:04:34] I wasn't that young.
[00:04:36] I mean, well, you're young.
[00:04:38] Yes, you were.
[00:04:39] Because my brother always used to say about me, he was like, you're four years retarded.
[00:04:45] Everything everyone else experiences, you do it four years later.
[00:04:48] And when I think about it, he's exactly on point.
[00:04:50] So really, like I was 27, but I was 23.
[00:04:54] Like a late bloomer.
[00:04:55] Yeah.
[00:04:56] I'm a late bloomer.
[00:04:56] I'm a late bloomer.
[00:04:57] But leave it to a brother to say.
[00:04:59] Yeah.
[00:04:59] To use a different word.
[00:05:00] Exactly.
[00:05:02] Let's call it a late bloomer.
[00:05:04] Yeah.
[00:05:04] But I'm the same.
[00:05:05] This is why we understand each other.
[00:05:08] Yeah.
[00:05:08] But you were so young and you, you, oh my God, you're wearing a bra top and leggings.
[00:05:15] Okay.
[00:05:16] But also.
[00:05:16] Something I've never done ever.
[00:05:19] Well.
[00:05:19] On camera.
[00:05:20] Because I remember everyone being like, look at her abs or whatever.
[00:05:24] And I was so relieved because at that point in my life, I didn't work out really.
[00:05:29] I just kept some muscle from playing hockey.
[00:05:32] Yeah.
[00:05:33] And I remember on that day, like I didn't feel particularly sexy or powerful.
[00:05:40] I was just like, I'm in a bra, you know?
[00:05:42] But one thing I will say is I noticed I still have a lot of that kind of baby fat and I have
[00:05:49] so much boob.
[00:05:51] Like I, I don't even know how they got that much boob out of me.
[00:05:54] Like there's not that much going on here.
[00:05:57] I managed to get some pretty good boobage across the board.
[00:06:00] Like a double cutlet in there.
[00:06:04] Because I was watching, I just couldn't stop looking at my boobs.
[00:06:07] Like I was like, oh my gosh.
[00:06:10] It also has inspired me to maybe highlight my hair blonder.
[00:06:14] Cause I'm like, oh wow.
[00:06:16] Like I.
[00:06:16] Was that all your hair?
[00:06:17] The ponytail?
[00:06:18] Yeah.
[00:06:19] That was all my.
[00:06:19] You had longer hair.
[00:06:21] Yeah.
[00:06:21] At that point.
[00:06:22] Yeah.
[00:06:23] Until I decided short hair was my gem.
[00:06:24] But, but yeah, I always, I had really long hair.
[00:06:28] And then it's funny.
[00:06:28] Cause I remember the following season.
[00:06:31] Uh, I wanted to have darker hair.
[00:06:35] And so I dyed it a bit darker and I came back and they were like, you can't have the same
[00:06:41] hair color as Zoe.
[00:06:42] Zoe.
[00:06:43] I remember that.
[00:06:44] Yeah.
[00:06:44] And I was like, I know I'm going to mix Zoe and I up.
[00:06:48] Like, what are you talking about?
[00:06:50] This is the show's been on for seasons.
[00:06:52] Like, yeah.
[00:06:52] But anyway, looking at it, it was crazy because I had this very, and I know you've talked about
[00:07:00] this, but I had this very, I've waited until now to watch the episode on purpose.
[00:07:04] And this very visceral feeling of being in that moment.
[00:07:09] But at the same time, it's like watching someone else.
[00:07:12] It was like watching another person as I was watching and I'm like, that's me.
[00:07:17] Like it was so bizarre.
[00:07:19] Um, yeah, it was so, so crazy.
[00:07:23] And then also I will say, and we'll get into all of this again, but in that cop shop, uh,
[00:07:31] scene or scenes, uh, that we did, um, I was watching it and I, I've actually got a
[00:07:38] little emotional because I I'm going to get emotional now because I was thinking like,
[00:07:42] here I was, I remember being here.
[00:07:45] I remember filming this scene, these scenes.
[00:07:48] And I had no idea.
[00:07:50] I didn't know you guys, you know, no idea.
[00:07:53] That you and Chris would become two of my dearest lifelong friends.
[00:08:00] And, and the way I would end up knowing you as human beings would be so rich and so deep.
[00:08:08] And, and I, that person on the screen in that moment had no idea.
[00:08:13] No idea.
[00:08:15] And neither did we.
[00:08:17] Chris and I didn't know that either.
[00:08:19] I know it is.
[00:08:20] That I think was the most beautiful thing to watch aside from like the horror of when
[00:08:27] you rewatch yourself and you're like, that's the truth I made.
[00:08:30] Yeah.
[00:08:30] Yeah.
[00:08:32] I'd like to do that again, please.
[00:08:33] One more take.
[00:08:34] I just watched it.
[00:08:36] And I'm like the whole time was thinking that.
[00:08:39] Cause I, yeah, I remember you guys were, I mean, I tested with Chris.
[00:08:43] I'd done a chemistry read with him.
[00:08:44] So I knew him a little bit, but otherwise you were all strangers to me.
[00:08:49] You know, it's funny.
[00:08:50] I love those scenes in the cop shop.
[00:08:53] And I remember very specifically that was your first day.
[00:08:57] And I remember, cause of course I know Chris at this point.
[00:09:00] I know what a incredible man he is and an incredible human.
[00:09:06] And, um, you know, we have a history as people and we have a history on the show as these characters.
[00:09:11] And I remember you coming in and of course we knew, okay, it's, it's this Rachel girl's
[00:09:17] first day and, uh, she'll, she'll be nervous.
[00:09:22] Yeah.
[00:09:22] Right.
[00:09:23] Like as everyone is.
[00:09:24] And there was just this, um, collective need to not take care of you.
[00:09:29] Cause you don't need taking care of, but to like make space for you and hold space for you.
[00:09:33] Because we wanted to do that.
[00:09:34] I remember it was just this, we wanted to make that space for you to find her there, which you did.
[00:09:42] So beautifully.
[00:09:44] And I just love, I love that.
[00:09:46] It, it always felt, um, with you and Chris specifically.
[00:09:53] And Paul, and it's not that the other people didn't make space for me or they weren't kind.
[00:09:59] It was just, they also have different.
[00:10:02] And we've gotten to know this over the years.
[00:10:03] It's like people, uh, some people you have to like earn their friendship.
[00:10:08] I actually really respect people like that because I'm like, Hey, I want to be best friends.
[00:10:13] Hey, let me tell you everything about myself.
[00:10:15] And that's how I earn my friendship.
[00:10:19] But then like, once you're in, you're like in for life.
[00:10:21] Yeah.
[00:10:22] Um, but you and Chris are much more like me.
[00:10:25] And I think it was perfect for me that my first scene was with the two of you because you very much made me feel that way.
[00:10:34] And it's funny because I knew Chris was a lot older, not a lot older than me.
[00:10:38] I like, but you know, 10 years, like a decade at that point when you're 27, I was like, he's almost 40.
[00:10:43] That's so crazy.
[00:10:44] Yeah.
[00:10:44] I thought we would still meet.
[00:10:46] Oh yeah.
[00:10:46] Yeah.
[00:10:47] I remember that.
[00:10:47] So many episodes.
[00:10:49] It wasn't until the bow episode, like where I was literally wearing a bow.
[00:10:54] Oh, yes.
[00:10:55] Yeah.
[00:10:55] Yeah.
[00:10:56] That we had, and we'll get to it in that season that we had the conversation on the bed and I'll never, or not seasoned in that episode.
[00:11:02] Episode.
[00:11:02] Yeah.
[00:11:03] Um, but I, it, because you were the lead of the show, there's this reverence, at least for me that you pay to the lead, you know?
[00:11:13] So it felt like you guys were kind of up here and I was down here, but you were taking care of me.
[00:11:20] Um, and I, I don't remember feeling nervous, uh, in like, uh, am I going to, are these people going to like me or anything like that?
[00:11:32] I just remember in the cop shop feeling nervous that I wouldn't remember my lines.
[00:11:36] And I remember in the boxing ring feeling nervous because I think I've talked about this before, but I don't think I'm particularly good at stunts or fighting.
[00:11:45] Somehow I always land in these shows where I'm doing that, but, um, I was really nervous doing that because Chris, you know, obviously now I know him.
[00:11:55] He's like, you know, it's like whatever, but at the time, like, he's like, we're in this boxing ring and he's ripped and he's like doing these moves.
[00:12:06] And I was like, so those were the two times I actually distinctly remember being nervous in that first episode.
[00:12:13] Right.
[00:12:14] I mean, those things don't come across in the episode, but I get, I get the nerves around it.
[00:12:19] Um, yeah, no, Chris, I mean, he's so good with his body too.
[00:12:23] Like he can, you know, it does what he, he wants it to do.
[00:12:27] Yeah.
[00:12:28] Which is always, for sure.
[00:12:29] It's definitely his, I don't know.
[00:12:33] I can't remember any of my vocabulary that I've learned over the years, but it's, it's really his palate.
[00:12:40] The rest of the episode, we're just going to stare.
[00:12:43] Yeah.
[00:12:44] We're not going to say anything.
[00:12:44] We're going to say it all with our eyes.
[00:12:46] Um, one thing I love though, about the, the casting of, well, first about Tamsin as a character, but then the casting of you as this character.
[00:12:56] Yes.
[00:12:57] My child has just entered the room.
[00:12:58] He has something to say.
[00:12:59] Do you have something to say about Tamsin?
[00:13:01] No.
[00:13:02] Can you sign me to Tamsin?
[00:13:05] You know what?
[00:13:06] I'm actually filming something right now.
[00:13:10] I want you to sign me to Paramount+.
[00:13:13] You want to watch something on Paramount+.
[00:13:16] Hmm.
[00:13:17] Maybe you could go ask daddy to help.
[00:13:20] And then, okay.
[00:13:22] Bye, sweetheart.
[00:13:29] Um, my little helpers.
[00:13:31] Can you close the door, my love?
[00:13:33] Yeah.
[00:13:34] Thank you.
[00:13:36] What I was going to say about the character of Tamsin.
[00:13:39] So what I loved about the character of Tamsin and then the casting of you.
[00:13:42] So the character, well, both, I mean, are kind of intertwined, but this was the first character, female character that came on the show who was really an equal to Bo.
[00:13:52] I know we've mentioned it before, but it's not that there weren't other strong females on the show.
[00:13:59] Everyone's a strong female.
[00:14:00] But in terms of like the Fae world, we don't know this about you yet.
[00:14:04] We don't know your power.
[00:14:05] We don't learn your power in this episode, do we?
[00:14:06] No, we don't.
[00:14:08] No, you don't.
[00:14:08] You don't learn my power.
[00:14:09] You know you're Dark Fae.
[00:14:10] We learned that you're Dark Fae, which is already a big deal.
[00:14:12] We learned I'm Dark Fae when we're leaving the boxing ring initially and Chris says, Dyson says something about reporting to the Ashes.
[00:14:20] And I said, well, I wouldn't know.
[00:14:21] I'd report to the Morgan.
[00:14:22] The Morgan.
[00:14:22] Yes, exactly.
[00:14:23] Which is so cool.
[00:14:25] So cool.
[00:14:25] It's so cool because they built you like you're already like Dark Fae.
[00:14:29] You're coming in as this new character, which is like, it's uncomfortable for the new characters and it's uncomfortable for the audience too.
[00:14:36] It's like, wait, who is this person showing up?
[00:14:39] Did they know my power at that point?
[00:14:41] Did the writers know my power?
[00:14:43] Because when I was cast, I don't think so.
[00:14:46] Because when I was cast, I remember Jay said he was looking for someone who had the face of an angel who could be a demon or something like that.
[00:14:58] And I was like, you found your girl.
[00:15:00] Well, but there was no mention to me at least about a Valkyrie or anything like that.
[00:15:11] And I don't know if they cast me and then my father's Norwegian and they played off of that.
[00:15:18] Right.
[00:15:19] Like if it was always a Valkyrie or if it was something else.
[00:15:21] I knew I was Dark Fae, obviously.
[00:15:22] I mean, they probably then selected it because of who they cast.
[00:15:27] I mean, that makes sense to me.
[00:15:29] Maybe.
[00:15:30] I don't know how we would.
[00:15:31] I don't know.
[00:15:32] We'll have to, we can unlock this mystery.
[00:15:34] Yeah.
[00:15:35] But what was nice is that you look so different than Bo.
[00:15:41] Like I loved this.
[00:15:44] We just look so different.
[00:15:46] Yeah.
[00:15:47] We're equals.
[00:15:48] We're both powerful players in this Vey world.
[00:15:51] I love how you come in.
[00:15:53] I feel like your, your, your emotion from the get-go is over it.
[00:15:59] You're just over it.
[00:16:00] I love you pouring.
[00:16:02] What was it that you say?
[00:16:03] Oh, I say something like your new partner's a real peach.
[00:16:06] And then you're like pouring coffee.
[00:16:08] I just love.
[00:16:10] And that's the thing.
[00:16:11] I can't remember how much, because I know I was supposed to pour the coffee,
[00:16:14] but I'm pretty sure I took it to an extreme or like when we're in the boxing ring
[00:16:18] and I'm talking about the, the taking out like, or going to put down the alligator man or whatever.
[00:16:26] And I go like this.
[00:16:28] Yeah.
[00:16:28] And I, that also, I'm pretty sure is me because I actually just do this a lot.
[00:16:33] But there were things like that where it's been so long.
[00:16:36] And also when you inhabit a character for so long, the lines blur on how much of it is just you
[00:16:44] and how much of it is the character and where is that line.
[00:16:49] And I actually don't remember.
[00:16:50] I don't remember what, what some of my actions, were they written or did I just do that?
[00:16:56] I'm inclined to think a lot of them were written because I would have been more nervous to improvise.
[00:17:02] Right.
[00:17:03] But I know the coffee thing.
[00:17:04] I, I took much farther than the intent.
[00:17:08] Lisa was on the floor with napkins.
[00:17:10] I'm just kidding.
[00:17:11] I don't know.
[00:17:13] But yeah, no, I love, I love that.

[00:18:14] I love, let me see here.
[00:18:16] Oh, I love the scene where Bo and Tamsin meet.
[00:18:21] Because, so we're hitting Vex.
[00:18:24] I love that Bo is kind of doing something childish when you walk in.
[00:18:28] Yeah.
[00:18:29] Because it just makes her feel like it kind of demotes her a little bit.
[00:18:33] Yeah.
[00:18:33] And then you walk in and just waltz in, plant yourself.
[00:18:40] I also think it's interesting because I'm sure everyone has been in that position
[00:18:43] where they broke up with someone and went with someone else
[00:18:47] that they actually liked more and wanted to be with more.
[00:18:50] But then you see your ex and they're like, cool.
[00:18:52] And you're like, fuck, I lost.
[00:18:54] Yeah.
[00:18:55] It's like childish competitiveness or whatever.
[00:18:58] And in that moment, I was like, she looks like she lost a little bit.
[00:19:01] I look like I lost a little bit.
[00:19:03] That's important.
[00:19:04] Right?
[00:19:05] That's what it was meant to be.
[00:19:06] And it works so well.
[00:19:08] Yeah.
[00:19:08] Because there's this like irritation right away of like, you're too familiar too fast.
[00:19:14] Like, why are you waltzing in here so comfortable?
[00:19:17] Yeah.
[00:19:17] And why was I just hitting Vex with a pillow?
[00:19:19] You know?
[00:19:19] So it was, it's just so strong.
[00:19:21] I just love how we come together.
[00:19:24] And I, I mean, the casting of you in this role is what has worked so well
[00:19:29] because it's, you have all the things that Jay is talking about, the face of an angel.
[00:19:35] You're a demon sometimes.
[00:19:36] I've seen it.
[00:19:37] I've seen it, people.
[00:19:40] But she's a demon on my side.
[00:19:43] Okay.
[00:19:43] So.
[00:19:44] Yeah.
[00:19:45] But even in the episode, I liked that too, because it's, I think quite a common trope
[00:19:50] to like really always pit women against each other.
[00:19:53] But there's a line where I said, and I remember saying this in liking in the episode
[00:19:57] where I was like, if I didn't hate Bo so much.
[00:19:59] I wrote it down too.
[00:20:00] Yeah.
[00:20:00] And I was like, isn't that genius though?
[00:20:03] Because I think women do that a lot.
[00:20:05] Like sometimes if someone's too much like us or what, like you actually like them, but
[00:20:10] you can't accept that.
[00:20:12] So you hate them.
[00:20:13] Yeah.
[00:20:13] You know what I mean?
[00:20:14] And I love that in the episode.
[00:20:16] Yeah.
[00:20:17] But it also sets us up for this contentious relationship, but at the same time, this deep
[00:20:22] respect of one another.
[00:20:23] Mutual respect.
[00:20:24] And it's, I think it's there from the beginning.
[00:20:26] Yeah.
[00:20:27] Um, I wrote down one of my favorite early Tamsin lines, which was because when God was handing
[00:20:32] out brains, you took second dick.
[00:20:34] I love that line.
[00:20:36] That was from baptism by fire into law school writing.
[00:20:40] Right.
[00:20:40] Yes.
[00:20:41] Because I remember numerous times, eat a sack of tits was like the piece.
[00:20:45] Yeah.
[00:20:46] That's a t-shirt.
[00:20:47] That's gotta be a t-shirt.
[00:20:48] I was like, I can't say this on television.
[00:20:50] And it ended up being my favorite line.
[00:20:51] Yeah.
[00:20:51] Um, reading the scripts and just being like, can I say this?
[00:20:58] Yes.
[00:20:58] Yes, you can.
[00:20:59] Yeah.
[00:21:00] And it works.
[00:21:01] It works.
[00:21:01] I don't, I don't know what you're talking about in terms of your chemistry with Chris,
[00:21:07] because I mean, in this episode.
[00:21:09] Yeah.
[00:21:10] Cause we didn't know each other yet.
[00:21:11] So we had chemistry, but then the more we got to know each other, we're very, I mean,
[00:21:18] not like entirely similar, but there's a lot of kind of, we have a very like brother
[00:21:25] sister vibe, you know, we've always had that.
[00:21:28] I mean, I feel, I feel that in life when, when you guys are together in life, I kind
[00:21:32] of feel that with Chris too.
[00:21:33] I mean.
[00:21:34] Yeah.
[00:21:35] I, yeah.
[00:21:37] Or like maybe I'm his like aunt.
[00:21:41] And again, we haven't seen this episode yet, but I remember there was an episode where
[00:21:47] we're in the bar and the doll and we're making out.
[00:21:52] And I remember thinking as we were doing it, they're not going to continue this love
[00:21:58] story because we are just too brotherly sisterly, you know?
[00:22:04] Um, and it worked out really well for me because I got a love story with you, but I, yeah, no,
[00:22:10] I, we did have chemistry in, in this episode.
[00:22:13] I, I agree.
[00:22:14] It was also weird to see myself kissing, kissing Chris.
[00:22:18] I know it's weird.
[00:22:19] As it was coming, I was like, Oh my gosh, it's going to happen.
[00:22:20] It's going to happen.
[00:22:22] I know.
[00:22:23] Yes.
[00:22:24] And speaking of love scenes, this scene, this episode.
[00:22:27] Oh my gosh.
[00:22:27] This scene had like, oh my gosh.
[00:22:29] Like the most satisfying long love scene ever.
[00:22:33] It's so long and slow.
[00:22:35] And slow.
[00:22:36] Slow.
[00:22:38] And it's, it was clever.
[00:22:41] I, Steve DeMarco directed this episode and, um, he had Zoe and I do things that were things
[00:22:49] you didn't see on camera, but that were then read in our faces.
[00:22:53] And it was done in a very erotic, slow, which I filming, it didn't necessarily feel like that,
[00:23:01] but I was watching it.
[00:23:02] I was like, Oh my God, this love scene goes on forever.
[00:23:04] Oh my God.
[00:23:05] But it's, it's the beginning of that, that rekindling of that love between Bo and Lauren.
[00:23:10] So, you know, it's, it's gotta be there.
[00:23:13] Um, and it's kind of cool because also the network that it was on initially, what it's
[00:23:22] not like it is today where it's like, Oh yeah.
[00:23:25] If I want more like whatever, I'll go to like HBO.
[00:23:31] This was like on network television.
[00:23:34] It was pretty racy.
[00:23:35] You know?
[00:23:36] Absolutely.
[00:23:37] It was good on us.
[00:23:39] I literally think I wrote in my notes, uh, satisfying love scene with a check mark.
[00:23:48] Satisfactory.
[00:23:50] Satisfying love scene.
[00:23:51] I love it.
[00:23:52] Um, I love the dream weaver.
[00:23:57] The woman, I love that.
[00:23:59] I love her flirting with trick, her little, like she's moving her fingers towards him.
[00:24:03] I love how uncomfortable he is.
[00:24:04] But also like, yeah.
[00:24:06] And her, Oh, that was so funny.
[00:24:08] It's so funny.
[00:24:08] I know.
[00:24:11] And just her, I loved her.
[00:24:14] This is when we still really, I mean, I love that we had Faye come in and this is, she's
[00:24:18] a dream weaver.
[00:24:19] So this is what she does.
[00:24:20] She spins the dreams and you know, um, it's really cool.
[00:24:25] And she's so well cast and she was so great.
[00:24:27] And I just love watching a trick being really uncomfortable.
[00:24:30] I know.
[00:24:31] It just makes me laugh.
[00:24:31] I thought that was a really nice nugget for him in the episode.
[00:24:36] And then it was also funny.
[00:24:37] And you and I were talking about this before, but, uh, Daniel DeSantos who plays Ozzy in
[00:24:44] this episode.
[00:24:46] I didn't even know at the time he was in this episode, but we have had the same agent since
[00:24:51] we were like kids and I've known him forever.
[00:24:55] And I remember this is years ago.
[00:24:58] Someone saying that he had been in lost girl.
[00:24:59] Maybe we, he had talked about being in lost girl.
[00:25:02] I never put two and two together.
[00:25:03] It was that episode.
[00:25:06] I'm like, do you interact with him in that episode?
[00:25:09] Do you interact with him?
[00:25:10] I can't remember.
[00:25:12] You don't.
[00:25:13] No, I don't think you don't.
[00:25:14] So this is why, yeah.
[00:25:16] You wouldn't have known there.
[00:25:17] So that's the other thing.
[00:25:18] So then we had this, I find myself in this, I think it was at the, the pig slaughterhouse
[00:25:24] that I also would pick it outside of during the day and then worked inside of the night.
[00:25:29] Yeah.
[00:25:30] Very convicting for me.
[00:25:32] But, um.
[00:25:33] Double life.
[00:25:34] Double life.
[00:25:35] Uh, and it, it was just like, ugh, it smelled so gross and it was nighttime and there was
[00:25:44] like, you know, a lot was going on.
[00:25:47] And, and that I think was the first day I felt like really thrown into the lost girl
[00:25:52] world.
[00:25:53] And cause the other two things, it was, it was those days were easy to navigate.
[00:25:59] Cause I, I kind of had to know on paper, like the lore and stuff, but then seeing the magic
[00:26:04] be created, um, I think was, was interesting for me.
[00:26:10] Of course I had no idea what was to follow, but yeah, I think that's the first day I really
[00:26:16] felt like I was on lost girl, you know?
[00:26:18] Right.
[00:26:18] Right.
[00:26:19] Um, and I, I, so I completely forgotten about that guy in the alligator mask, but I remember
[00:26:26] him sitting there dead all day and just in this like alligator.
[00:26:31] You mean the guy in like the goofy alligator?
[00:26:34] Yeah.
[00:26:35] Yeah.
[00:26:35] Yeah.
[00:26:37] And he pees his pants.
[00:26:38] The other.
[00:26:40] It's not great to pee your pants on TV.
[00:26:44] It's not.
[00:26:44] He did it.
[00:26:45] He did it.
[00:26:45] I mean, he didn't actually do it, but he did it.
[00:26:49] Maybe he did.
[00:26:50] You know what?
[00:26:50] He was very method.
[00:26:52] He's so method.
[00:26:52] He's stuck.
[00:26:53] He smelled like urine.
[00:26:54] The rest of the day.
[00:26:54] He's listening.
[00:26:55] We love you.
[00:26:55] We're kidding.
[00:26:56] We just love you.
[00:26:58] Um, in terms of Tamsin's styling, one thing I loved is that you have this green.
[00:27:05] We have not seen this color.
[00:27:06] I wanted to wear green as an ode to that because it was also the promotional photo.
[00:27:12] I wore that green outfit.
[00:27:13] Yeah.
[00:27:14] And I realized I don't have a single green thing in my wardrobe because I don't think I
[00:27:20] look good in green since I went out for St. Patrick's day in first year of university
[00:27:26] and looked like I had the stomach flu wearing green.
[00:27:30] And ever since then, I'm like, no green for me.
[00:27:33] And I don't have any green in here.
[00:27:35] And I was watching this and I'm like, damn, that looks fantastic.
[00:27:38] That was like a jewel tone green.
[00:27:40] It was beautiful.
[00:27:42] Like those tones.
[00:27:43] Yeah.
[00:27:44] I'm like, I should have, what happened to that?
[00:27:45] I should have kept it.
[00:27:46] You need a green vibe because it, I mean, it's, we hadn't seen that color on the show.
[00:27:52] And so it became this like, I know that you ended up wearing other colors, but it was
[00:27:56] a nice intro to the character to give you your own signature look, which of course, this
[00:28:03] is what hair makeup wardrobe people do.
[00:28:06] Yeah.
[00:28:06] I look fire.
[00:28:07] Honestly, I'm freaking back.
[00:28:08] Damn.
[00:28:09] Yeah.
[00:28:10] But okay.
[00:28:11] Enough about me.
[00:28:12] Let's talk about who I didn't really interact with.
[00:28:18] Crocodile Man.
[00:28:19] Crocodile Man.
[00:28:19] That's some serious, uh, he must've sat in the makeup chair for a long time.
[00:28:24] That's some serious aesthetics.
[00:28:25] Yeah.
[00:28:26] Yes.
[00:28:26] And I have to tell you the, so working with him, he had, I remember filming with him.
[00:28:33] He had a lot of dialogue.
[00:28:35] Uh, we were working with Steve DeMarco who moves very quickly.
[00:28:38] Very quickly.
[00:28:39] Yeah.
[00:28:39] We were under a lot of time crunch.
[00:28:42] So I felt for him because he had to bring a compelling character under a time crunch
[00:28:47] with this sort of this accent and all these prosthetics and he's supposed to be blind and
[00:28:52] da, da, da, da, da, da, da.
[00:28:54] And I remember he just, he did it.
[00:28:57] I mean, he did it.
[00:28:57] I watched this episode and I'm like, oh yeah.
[00:28:59] Like I remember feeling for him so much because, you know, ultimately what ends up on screen
[00:29:04] is what ends up on screen, regardless of what's happening around you.
[00:29:08] And it's hard not to be affected by what is happening around you.
[00:29:11] I think he was able to just block it out because he literally could barely see.
[00:29:14] But I remember, oh, one of my most embarrassing, uh, moments, not embarrassing moments, but
[00:29:22] a piece of direction that I was given by Steve DeMarco in that scene because I was like so
[00:29:29] embarrassed by it, but also learned from it.
[00:29:32] So we were doing the scene and it was at this point, the camera was on myself and Kenzie
[00:29:38] and Steve DeMarco just popped in, you know, he used to like pop in sideways and he'd be
[00:29:42] like laying on the ground.
[00:29:43] So that's what he was doing with his monitor.
[00:29:45] He's like holding the monitor.
[00:29:46] He's popped in sideways and he was like, buddy, buddy talking to me.
[00:29:51] I'm not buying it.
[00:29:53] That's what he said to me.
[00:29:55] Cause I was supposed to be, uh, there was a few lines where I'm threatening him.
[00:29:59] He just leaned in.
[00:30:00] He said, I'm not buying it.
[00:30:02] And I went, okay.
[00:30:04] He wouldn't have said that to hurt your feelings.
[00:30:07] No, he wouldn't have.
[00:30:07] To belittle you.
[00:30:09] He would have just truly been saying it because it was for him.
[00:30:14] Yeah.
[00:30:14] And he knew that I could turn it around, but that in the moment, it was awful.
[00:30:20] I was, I literally just went and he whispered it to me.
[00:30:22] So the only people that heard it were the alligator man.
[00:30:25] Who honestly was probably like, I'm a fucking alligator man.
[00:30:28] I don't care.
[00:30:29] Who was probably like, who said that?
[00:30:30] Who said that?
[00:30:31] Because he couldn't see.
[00:30:33] Who are you talking to?
[00:30:34] Oh, there's someone else in the scene.
[00:30:36] No, he was, he was amazing.
[00:30:37] He was amazing.
[00:30:37] This is not talking about him.
[00:30:38] But, um, but I just remember being like, okay.
[00:30:42] And I got really self-conscious and then like roll sound action again.
[00:30:48] And I just remember containing everything and just saying it.
[00:30:52] And I think that's what they show in the episode.
[00:30:55] I don't know what I was doing, but I think I was like trying to ham up my threat.
[00:30:59] So it looked weak, frankly.
[00:31:01] But you know, I remembered that moment because it didn't feel good, but also it made me go.
[00:31:06] So, uh, it also made me go like, oh, I have a job in this scene too.
[00:31:12] Like as a performer, I need to bring the truth to it.
[00:31:15] And I wasn't for whatever reason I wasn't.
[00:31:18] Um, so it was a embarrassing, but good moment for me.
[00:31:23] Um, it was interesting coming on that show and having Steve be my first director because
[00:31:29] not every director on lost girl had the same, uh,
[00:31:36] investment.
[00:31:37] Yes.
[00:31:38] But I just mean the same, like, uh, way in which he directed, which was him, you know,
[00:31:44] most directors, of course they're, they have their own way with things and their own flow.
[00:31:49] But I mean, we're talking about Steve would finish before lunch, which is like unheard of.
[00:31:55] He would be decked out in like the craziest outfits, like wheeling around in a chair,
[00:32:02] like just so off the wall and such an artist of himself.
[00:32:07] And, and when you come on to a show, you, you're like, oh, I guess this is all just how it is.
[00:32:14] You know what I mean?
[00:32:15] And I, I, I was, I remember thinking it was really cool.
[00:32:18] I liked Steve a lot.
[00:32:20] Oh, me too.
[00:32:21] Me too.
[00:32:22] And it's, it's also a preference because I really like doing a scene one or two times
[00:32:29] and then being done with it, you know?
[00:32:32] And so he was really my vibe, you know?
[00:32:35] And that was, that was cool.
[00:32:39] Yeah.
[00:32:39] He left a great impression.
[00:32:41] He did.
[00:32:41] And he also lit a fire.
[00:32:43] We've talked about him before, obviously, but we also, he lit a fire under each of us
[00:32:47] that kept burning when he wasn't there.
[00:32:49] You know, that's pretty magical.
[00:32:52] The ability to do that, you know?
[00:32:54] So I'm glad that he was your first director for the show too, because it was a, he was,
[00:32:59] I mean, he was Faye for sure.
[00:33:00] And he was like, he, yeah, he was, he must have been Faye.
[00:33:05] Okay.
[00:33:05] I want to see one.
[00:33:06] I wrote love.
[00:33:08] Oh, I loved, I loved Tamsin coming in and, you know, seeing what she's up against in
[00:33:15] terms of like just her job as a detective that she's coming in, she's partnering with
[00:33:19] this light Faye.
[00:33:19] She's got a job as a detective.
[00:33:22] But once you start to see in, especially in a cop shop, that connection between Bo and
[00:33:28] Dyson, you actually realize what you're up against is more than just your job, dark Faye,
[00:33:34] light Faye.
[00:33:35] You're coming into this relationship and all the other relationships that are so strong
[00:33:39] that you're now up against a family.
[00:33:45] Right?
[00:33:45] Well, for sure.
[00:33:45] And I think that Tamsin's probably used to, was probably used to in the past, always being
[00:33:51] the alpha in any situation.
[00:33:53] So it's not just Bo having someone come in and have an equal.
[00:33:57] I think it's Tams, you know, like she knows exactly what she's doing when she's walking into
[00:34:03] that boxing ring with Chris.
[00:34:06] And I think has probably been like, oh, this partnership, you know, that dark fan light
[00:34:12] fair doing, but I'm going to use my wily charm on you and like run your show, you know?
[00:34:17] Yeah.
[00:34:18] And I think she thinks it's working up until the cop shop.
[00:34:23] And then I think there's a moment where I say to Dyson, like, do you love this girl?
[00:34:29] You know, where then she's like, oh shit.
[00:34:33] Yeah.
[00:34:33] Like I'm coming into this whole thing.
[00:34:36] I did not anticipate that.
[00:34:39] And it kind of throws her for a loop.
[00:34:42] I remember my dad used to say, for those of you who don't know, he was a psychologist
[00:34:48] and used to say a lot of the time, if someone has a hook in you, you probably have a hook
[00:34:53] in them too, you know, that that's just kind of how we are as human beings.
[00:34:57] And I think about that.
[00:34:58] Like I was thinking about that as I was watching the episode because I'm like, oh,
[00:35:02] Tamsin has a hook in Bo and Bo has a hook in Tamsin, which is really cool.
[00:35:05] Yeah, absolutely.
[00:35:07] Yeah.
[00:35:08] Wise words from your papa.
[00:35:10] Wise words.
[00:35:11] Wise words.
[00:35:12] What else?
[00:35:13] I loved the boxing scene at the end with you and Chris, because there's one at the end too,
[00:35:17] where you're like punching him.
[00:35:19] Yeah.
[00:35:19] So then you get to take out a little bit of your frustration.
[00:35:23] Your frustration from the episode.
[00:35:25] I was always very nervous to punch you because I didn't want to hurt you.
[00:35:28] Not that you're like this weak, meek person.
[00:35:31] Everyone knows my neck.
[00:35:32] No, but it's fun to punch Chris.
[00:35:34] I agree.
[00:35:35] I like punching him.
[00:35:36] Chris, you just don't.
[00:35:37] It's like getting in a fight with your brother.
[00:35:38] You don't really like have any forethought about their physical safety.
[00:35:43] Right.
[00:35:43] You know, you're just like.
[00:35:45] So I do remember that being fun, but also feeling self-conscious that I was in a bra.
[00:35:51] But I did know.
[00:35:53] I did always feel like I had a good ass.
[00:35:55] So I was like, these pants are sweet.
[00:35:57] Please, Miss Scarston.
[00:35:58] You've got the best ass.
[00:36:00] You've got the best everything.
[00:36:01] You're too good looking.
[00:36:03] It's confusing.
[00:36:04] Very sweet.
[00:36:05] You're not too good looking.
[00:36:07] You're the perfect, most beautiful.
[00:36:08] One thing I love though.
[00:36:09] So you're in a bra.
[00:36:10] You've got a great butt.
[00:36:12] And you're using.
[00:36:13] Tamsin's using her sexuality in this scene.
[00:36:17] Like she's using it.
[00:36:19] But what I loved is that it felt, it didn't feel like you were, because you kiss him,
[00:36:25] don't you?
[00:36:25] Yeah.
[00:36:26] This is the way where you kiss him and you're kind of doing this flirty thing, but it didn't
[00:36:31] look like you were using it to get anything, which is very different.
[00:36:38] Actually, before the love story with Bo, I never saw Tamsin as a kid.
[00:36:43] Like even though we find out that she's always looking for love, I always in the beginning
[00:36:49] saw Tamsin as like a lone wolf.
[00:36:51] You know, she was maybe her heart's desire deep down was to have connection and true love,
[00:36:59] but that as she operated through the world and through her life, she consciously didn't
[00:37:07] think she needed that.
[00:37:09] And so when she's using her sexuality or whatever, it's just another tool in her toolbox.
[00:37:15] Yeah.
[00:37:15] It didn't feel like, because typically when you see that on screen, a woman in particular
[00:37:20] doing that to a man, it's like, I need something from you.
[00:37:23] I need something from you.
[00:37:24] I'm trying to get it.
[00:37:25] This time it was like, this is another part of me.
[00:37:27] Deal with it.
[00:37:28] Yeah.
[00:37:29] You know?
[00:37:29] And I just, I loved that.
[00:37:31] I loved it.
[00:37:32] It just made you so strong.
[00:37:35] And, and, and, you know, Bo's sexuality obviously is her power too.
[00:37:39] Like that's linked to her power.
[00:37:41] So she has a different need with it.
[00:37:43] Um, but they both have strength in that, which I think is really interesting because they
[00:37:50] do, we, we do meet this new kick-ass female who is layered in the same way as Bo and, and
[00:38:00] many of the characters, but there was just something very connected about Bo and Tamsin in this,
[00:38:06] this world.
[00:38:07] And we have a whole season now of Tamsin.
[00:38:11] I know.
[00:38:11] I'm so excited to go back and watch all the episodes and talk about them because again,
[00:38:18] honestly, I don't know what's next.
[00:38:19] Like, I, I, I don't know what the next one is.
[00:38:22] I actually do not remember what it is.
[00:38:22] Me neither.
[00:38:24] Me neither.
[00:38:25] But I do remember loving filming season three.
[00:38:28] I do remember that.
[00:38:30] Loving having you be there.
[00:38:32] Yeah.
[00:38:33] And it was just a fun season.
[00:38:34] It really was.
[00:38:36] And this will be a fun season.
[00:38:38] For that season.
[00:38:38] That was it.
[00:38:39] I only signed a one year contract.
[00:38:41] Too bad.
[00:38:42] Too bad.
[00:38:42] You were bad.
[00:38:43] You were bad.
[00:38:43] No, I know what I'm saying.
[00:38:44] Like as that season was going on, I didn't, I just thought it was only that.
[00:38:49] Right.
[00:38:49] Um, and we'll get to this in the end of this season, you know, about what happened and how
[00:38:56] that changed and that kind of thing.
[00:38:57] But, um, I remember.
[00:39:02] Yeah.
[00:39:02] Just, just, there were points in the season where I thought this is really fun.
[00:39:07] I wish this was longer.
[00:39:08] You know, I wish I could continue on with them.
[00:39:10] Uh, little did I know, but, um, but yeah.
[00:39:15] Then season four came and you're like, what is happening?
[00:39:17] Yeah.
[00:39:18] But then season five came, listen, there's a lot of good in season four.
[00:39:21] There's a lot of good.
[00:39:23] I know.
[00:39:24] Oh my God.
[00:39:26] Oh my God.
[00:39:27] Um, no, we, uh, we were lucky to have you on the show for any amount of time.
[00:39:33] And we had you for a long time.
[00:39:35] I was lucky.
[00:39:35] And, uh, the storytelling became richer and more powerful because of you.
[00:39:41] And so.
[00:39:42] Well, I don't know if it was because of me, to be honest, but I, I remember that's another
[00:39:46] thing.
[00:39:46] Was it Jay who said it, or maybe it was Emily that in season three of a show, you have to
[00:39:53] eat like either subtract a character or add a character, but you have to like shake up
[00:39:59] the crew because if you don't do that, it can become stale.
[00:40:02] And I've always thought about that when I'm watching shows and you see by season three that
[00:40:07] they do, they like add someone new or something like really shifts.
[00:40:12] Yeah.
[00:40:13] And I remember when I think it was Jay say, like when he said it, I shouldn't remember
[00:40:19] if it was necessarily him, but I remember my feeling of being like, oh my gosh, that's
[00:40:24] me.
[00:40:24] Like I have to, I have to shake it up, you know?
[00:40:27] Yeah.
[00:40:27] Being nervous about, about that.
[00:40:30] But little did I know.
[00:40:31] Little did you know.
[00:40:35] Well, I think that does it for this episode.
[00:40:37] That does it for this amazing episode.
[00:40:40] Thank you everyone for listening and watching.
[00:40:43] There is more to come with the lovely Tamsin and yeah, I can't wait to see where we go this
[00:40:50] season because I just don't remember, but I will try to dig out more outfits if I see any
[00:40:56] that I still have.
[00:40:57] We have all these outfits.
[00:40:59] I know.
[00:40:59] It's so mental.
[00:41:00] I know.
[00:41:01] Thank you everyone for watching.
[00:41:03] Thank you for watching.
[00:41:04] We will see you guys on the next one.
[00:41:06] We'll see you next episode.
