[00:00:12] My name is Anna Silk. For six seasons, I played Bo on the hit TV series, Lost Girl.
[00:00:18] And my name is Rachel Scarston. For three seasons, I played Tamsin.
[00:00:23] Welcome to the Lost Girl Rewatch Podcast. A show where we will look at all the episodes,
[00:00:28] share some behind the scenes stories, and chat with some very special guests.
[00:00:33] On the show, our relationship was sometimes rocky.
[00:00:37] But in life, our friendship is rock solid.
[00:00:40] We are so glad you are here to join us for this trip down memory lane.
[00:00:45] We love that the family is back together again.
[00:00:49] Welcome everyone to episode three, season three of the Lost Girl Rewatch Podcast.
[00:01:05] I'm Rachel Scarston and this is...
[00:01:07] Anna Silk.
[00:01:08] Yay!
[00:01:09] We're back!
[00:01:09] We're back!
[00:01:10] Episode three! Oh my God!
[00:01:12] All right, let me just say, as I started watching this episode, kind of making notes about it,
[00:01:19] and I'm like, wow, like, Emmanuel and, you know, LOL, the vexes impotence, blah, blah, blah.
[00:01:27] Yes.
[00:01:27] And then all of a sudden, it dawns on me and I'm like, it's the kids episode!
[00:01:33] I know.
[00:01:34] I know.
[00:01:35] I know.
[00:01:36] Was this the second episode you actually filmed?
[00:01:39] Yes!
[00:01:39] Yes, because by then we were filming in order.
[00:01:41] By then we'd figured out filming in order is better.
[00:01:44] Yes!
[00:01:45] So, yeah.
[00:01:45] But in my mind, that episode happened so much later in my time on Lost Girl.
[00:01:50] I didn't know that was my second ever episode.
[00:01:53] I mean, did you think this show is crazy when you did that episode?
[00:01:58] No, actually it was the opposite.
[00:01:59] I remember spending the majority of that episode thinking I was such a bad actor and like, no one,
[00:02:07] because you and Chris were so good at playing that juvenile version of your characters.
[00:02:14] And I just felt like an idiot the whole time.
[00:02:17] No, you did not look like an idiot the whole time.
[00:02:19] No, no, I did.
[00:02:19] Oh my God!
[00:02:20] It was funny.
[00:02:20] The three of us were hilarious.
[00:02:22] I mean, we were hilarious.
[00:02:23] Let's stay in the real world.
[00:02:24] We were hilarious.
[00:02:26] That this episode to me, beginning to end, is a perfect episode.
[00:02:31] In terms of the storytelling, it's perfect.
[00:02:35] It was so entertaining.
[00:02:37] The storytelling was perfect.
[00:02:38] Each character had this like weaving in and out of backstory and had different opportunities and got hero moments.
[00:02:44] And it was absolutely perfect.
[00:02:47] It was called Confedion.
[00:02:48] It was written by James Thorpe, who I believe this was the only episode he ever wrote for Lost Girl.
[00:02:52] I could be wrong about that, but I believe it was the only one.
[00:02:54] And directed by Paolo.
[00:02:57] I forgot that Paolo directed it.
[00:02:58] So those are all reasons that it came together so beautifully.
[00:03:02] Paolo's actually right now directing a friend of mine, Sarah Levy, in Surreal Estate.
[00:03:07] Oh yeah, yeah.
[00:03:08] With Tim Averzon, who everyone will meet in season four.
[00:03:13] Yeah, totally.
[00:03:14] And she was like, oh, Paolo's directing again.
[00:03:17] I love Paolo.
[00:03:18] I was like, damn it, I wish I had Paolo.
[00:03:20] I know.
[00:03:21] He's such a wonderful human.
[00:03:22] The conductor.
[00:03:23] He's incredible.
[00:03:25] He's a conductor.
[00:03:25] Yeah, that's the perfect word for him.
[00:03:27] Okay, but let's start from the top.
[00:03:30] The beginning.
[00:03:30] The beginning.
[00:03:31] Okay.
[00:03:32] Yes.
[00:03:33] The scene between Lauren and Vex when she's like diagnosing.
[00:03:41] I know.
[00:03:42] It's hilarious.
[00:03:44] So funny.
[00:03:46] It's so funny because obviously it's playing on the pun of him being like sexually impotent.
[00:03:52] You know what I mean?
[00:03:52] Right, right.
[00:03:52] But he's like so upset about it.
[00:03:55] And it was, oh my goodness.
[00:03:56] And then she's like itching her head and she's like, no, no, I'm actually just scratching it.
[00:04:01] Oh, it's so good.
[00:04:02] And like when she's like, oh, this commonly affects phase of your age.
[00:04:09] I know.
[00:04:10] And just his like, oh, like every time his body was just like, what, what?
[00:04:14] It just got funnier and funnier as it went on.
[00:04:17] It was so, so good.
[00:04:19] No.
[00:04:20] And I mean like the bigger thing that they had to achieve in this episode was to disempower all the very powerful characters, right?
[00:04:28] Like they had to make sure that Vex didn't have his full power and they had to disempower Bo Dyson and Tamsin.
[00:04:34] To empower Kenzie.
[00:04:37] Yeah.
[00:04:37] Kenzie and, and give Lauren and Kenzie, the humans, this power to then also work on their relationship.
[00:04:43] Like that's what was so also so brilliant in this writing.
[00:04:45] I want to back it up to the very, very beginning though, because I have a behind the scenes story of Ksenia and I, Kenzie and Bo, like, you know, beating up Rob, Rob, who played Bruce.
[00:04:58] Yeah.
[00:04:58] I actually, that's the other thing.
[00:04:59] I didn't know that he was this early in the show.
[00:05:02] Well, he was in our, our episode one of season one.
[00:05:06] He played, I fought him in this, like, you don't really recognize him because he's got this like stuff on.
[00:05:11] This is the first time I really recognized him.
[00:05:14] Yeah.
[00:05:14] Well, then he got like a role on it before he was kind of like stunt man, giant man, you know, because he can't be anything but a giant man.
[00:05:23] All those things.
[00:05:23] Yes, exactly.
[00:05:24] But now, now he's Bruce.
[00:05:26] And I, I mean, I always, I love Bruce, but, um, we saw Bruce last season, right?
[00:05:32] Did we?
[00:05:32] God, I, it's hard.
[00:05:33] I feel like I would have said something.
[00:05:35] I know.
[00:05:36] Maybe we didn't see him.
[00:05:37] Maybe we didn't.
[00:05:38] But you know what?
[00:05:39] Everyone listening knows better than us.
[00:05:41] Um, but I'll just go back to that scene.
[00:05:43] So we beat him up and we're in that mud.
[00:05:46] Right.
[00:05:46] And it was like cold and muddy that day.
[00:05:48] And he's in the mud.
[00:05:50] And then they're like, you just have to, you got to pick up his legs and drag him.
[00:05:54] Right.
[00:05:54] And they're like, it's so slippery.
[00:05:56] You'll be able to pull him.
[00:05:57] Well, do you think Ksenia and I could move an inch with that man?
[00:06:01] He's so heavy, like one leg.
[00:06:03] We're each holding a leg, which is so heavy.
[00:06:06] It's crushing on him.
[00:06:09] Like it was like holding like a 200 pound.
[00:06:11] I don't know.
[00:06:12] Like we, and then we tried to pull him and we're both like, we couldn't move him at all.
[00:06:15] So what they had to do is make like, almost like a, like a crazy carpet.
[00:06:21] No, like, you know, like snow.
[00:06:23] One of those things you sit on and go down snow, crazy carpet.
[00:06:26] I don't know.
[00:06:26] Yeah.
[00:06:27] Yeah.
[00:06:27] Yeah.
[00:06:27] Like they put like a shield under him and they tied this thing around his body and the stunt
[00:06:35] team was pulling him while we were pulling him too.
[00:06:39] So they were actually pulling most of the weight and we were pretending.
[00:06:41] But what happened was the scene was so long that the thing started getting tighter and
[00:06:47] tighter on Rob.
[00:06:48] And as we're watching, we're like, he's kind of turning purple, but he was staying in it.
[00:06:52] So we just stayed in it too.
[00:06:53] And we did the take.
[00:06:55] And then when we were done, like, oh my God, he's like, I'm fine.
[00:06:58] I'm fine.
[00:06:58] But we almost choked him to death.
[00:07:00] So that's what really happened that day.
[00:07:02] Just a little behind the scenes where we almost killed.
[00:07:04] I was thinking as I watched that, what a miserable scene to shoot.
[00:07:08] It was miserable to shoot.
[00:07:09] We were just wet.
[00:07:10] Yeah.
[00:07:10] And so often the scenes that look the best on camera are the most miserable to shoot.
[00:07:17] You're cold and uncomfortable and all of those things.
[00:07:20] Or like, yeah.
[00:07:21] Like even in the episode, the first episode of this season, when you're in the decontamination
[00:07:25] unit.
[00:07:25] Oh yes.
[00:07:26] It's so beautiful.
[00:07:26] It's the whole time I just kept thinking.
[00:07:28] For us.
[00:07:29] Freezing.
[00:07:30] I know.
[00:07:32] Anyway, so that was a little behind the scenes of that.
[00:07:33] But yes, back to Vex and Lauren, that scene was masterful.
[00:07:38] They both did it so well.
[00:07:39] Yeah.
[00:07:41] They're both.
[00:07:41] It was just so entertaining.
[00:07:43] It was so entertaining.
[00:07:45] And authentic though too.
[00:07:45] And it's also fun to watch those two spar because they're both wildly talented.
[00:07:49] Yes.
[00:08:08] You know?
[00:08:10] I don't remember.
[00:08:11] I don't remember if they had put a piece as well.
[00:08:13] Like, I just can't remember what they would have done.
[00:08:16] Remember like the wall in the hair room?
[00:08:19] Oh yeah.
[00:08:19] In the hair and makeup trailer, there's like a wall with like hair hanging off of it.
[00:08:24] It was, it must've been a piece, but we'll have to wait because I don't remember.
[00:08:28] I didn't really start hanging out with people outside of work until the following season.
[00:08:36] So I feel like then I remember what Paul's hair looked like in real life.
[00:08:39] Right.
[00:08:39] I don't know if it changed from season three to season four.
[00:08:42] So we'll have to wait to see.
[00:08:44] But yeah, the angst in Paul, in Vex in this episode was hilarious.
[00:08:50] Yeah.
[00:08:51] Hilarious.
[00:08:52] Yeah.
[00:08:52] I love it.
[00:08:53] Okay.
[00:08:54] And then the other, then they do it again.
[00:08:56] They have Paul spar off with Ksenia.
[00:08:59] He's like, so I actually wrote down this quote when she was like, let's talk about something
[00:09:05] really amazing.
[00:09:06] Mascara.
[00:09:07] And then he was like, you have my attention.
[00:09:12] Mascara together was so funny.
[00:09:14] It was hilarious.
[00:09:15] And then they kind of like, I love that they have that new bond that doesn't like necessarily
[00:09:20] make sense, but it does like.
[00:09:22] No, it makes perfect sense.
[00:09:24] Yeah.
[00:09:24] I guess it makes perfect sense.
[00:09:25] And I love that at the end when he gives her that, like your bone, something, the blush
[00:09:32] brush that he gives her, like it's so meaningful.
[00:09:36] But it's also great because it too sets up later in the episode when he betrays her.
[00:09:44] And she's like, how, how could you do this?
[00:09:46] And that says something about sharing like some limited edition, like I didn't with him.
[00:09:52] And then he was like, oh, you think we're buddies just because we share makeup.
[00:09:57] That's what I mean.
[00:09:57] This episode, it was perfect.
[00:09:59] Yeah.
[00:10:00] It was so.
[00:10:00] It was perfect.
[00:10:02] Like it, it just everything about it there, everything had such intentional purposes.
[00:10:06] Including, um, I want, I want to point this out to the audience too.
[00:10:11] Like how, just how intentional things are across the board.
[00:10:14] Sometimes they don't work as well, but, um, I couldn't remember exactly what happened in
[00:10:19] this episode right at the beginning.
[00:10:21] Like I was like, oh yeah, we drag Rob.
[00:10:22] I remember that story.
[00:10:24] And then I just couldn't remember what was going to happen until I saw Ksenia come in,
[00:10:29] in that red and black kind of jacket that had flow to it.
[00:10:34] Yeah.
[00:10:35] Because as soon as I saw that, I went, oh yeah, she has a huge fight scene.
[00:10:38] So that's really intentional in, in terms of the wardrobe, um, and the storytelling there,
[00:10:43] because when you're going to have a character like that, do a fight scene, that's got to have
[00:10:47] this, like these lines to it and like a stick and all that stuff.
[00:10:51] You want flow in her costume as well.
[00:10:54] Like it just makes it, it just tells more of the story.
[00:10:56] It makes it more grand.
[00:10:57] So as soon as I saw that, I went, oh yeah, this is the one where she fights the pig guys.
[00:11:01] Who did that fight?
[00:11:03] Who do you remember who her stunt double was?
[00:11:04] Cause it was unbelievable.
[00:11:06] Um, I don't remember who her stunt double was.
[00:11:09] Yeah.
[00:11:09] She did a lot of it.
[00:11:10] I know.
[00:11:11] I remember that, but yeah, she did.
[00:11:14] I think, I mean, I wasn't really there.
[00:11:17] So honestly, a lot of it would have to be her because you can see her face.
[00:11:21] Yeah.
[00:11:21] And then she was doubled as well, but I don't remember who her double was.
[00:11:25] Cause she's so tiny.
[00:11:27] Her doubles had to be so, so teeny.
[00:11:29] I know.
[00:11:30] She's so teeny.
[00:11:31] I mean, everyone's teeny to me, but she's particularly teeny.
[00:11:33] She's particularly size.
[00:11:35] Yeah.
[00:11:36] Okay.
[00:11:36] Let's rewind.
[00:11:37] Okay.
[00:11:38] Wait.
[00:11:38] So wait.
[00:11:38] Okay.
[00:11:39] Go ahead.
[00:11:39] Rewind.
[00:11:40] You.
[00:11:41] Cause it's you first who becomes a kid.
[00:11:45] I love that moment.
[00:11:46] And when you come in and you're like, wait, I wrote it down to you.
[00:11:50] Like what she's saying about me because whatever it is, it isn't true.
[00:11:54] Yeah.
[00:11:55] I know.
[00:11:56] I know.
[00:11:56] I'm like, like we became like teenagers and also tantruming teenagers a little bit.
[00:12:02] Yeah.
[00:12:03] You know what I mean?
[00:12:03] Like particularly Bo, she was very like, you know,
[00:12:08] Okay.
[00:12:09] That's the other thing.
[00:12:10] I have been in prep.
[00:12:13] Like I like, for instance, yesterday I watched three episodes for context for everyone.
[00:12:18] And Chris takes his shirt off a lot in the show.
[00:12:23] He does.
[00:12:24] Thank God.
[00:12:24] I've been blogging him for years about this episode and how he'd like only ate apples for
[00:12:32] a really long time.
[00:12:33] And then was like practicing his dance moves, like in the mirror in his trailer and stuff.
[00:12:37] And then as I was watching the episodes, I'm like, man, I should have taken it easy on this guy.
[00:12:42] Like he's naked more than anyone.
[00:12:43] Anyone.
[00:12:44] I know.
[00:12:45] Let me tell you, as the person who played Bo, the sexual creature on the show, who had to have many,
[00:12:51] many, many, many love scenes.
[00:12:52] I was always very grateful to share that with Chris Holden Reed when he had to sort of be that person that,
[00:13:00] that you see his physique and all of that kind of, he was shirtless a lot.
[00:13:05] A lot.
[00:13:06] Yeah.
[00:13:07] A lot.
[00:13:07] I feel like almost every episode he's been, he's been shirtless.
[00:13:11] Totally.
[00:13:13] But anyway, the shirtless part comes later.
[00:13:16] The shirtless part comes later.
[00:13:17] So we see you, your hair was so long.
[00:13:20] Was that all your hair?
[00:13:22] Yeah.
[00:13:22] Yeah.
[00:13:22] That was all my hair.
[00:13:23] I know.
[00:13:23] That's the other thing.
[00:13:24] I was watching it being like, man, I've embraced this short look, but like, maybe I should go back.
[00:13:29] You can go either way.
[00:13:31] You can go either way.
[00:13:31] Well, I had a hairdresser though.
[00:13:33] I mean, it didn't look like that when I woke up.
[00:13:36] But yeah, it was, I, it was really long.
[00:13:39] I forgot.
[00:13:39] It was really long.
[00:13:40] Yeah.
[00:13:42] I love Bo and Tamsin.
[00:13:44] Like, I forget who walks into the bar, but like, I just love how they just ignore each other.
[00:13:48] It's like this understanding of like, whatever, whatever.
[00:13:51] You know, like we just ignore each other.
[00:13:53] It's perfect.
[00:13:54] Which also builds up like even more so later when we're, which is, we can get to later,
[00:14:01] but when we're writing each other the notes.
[00:14:03] And I actually remember filming this.
[00:14:05] I mean, I can't remember if it was scripted or not, but how we ate the paper.
[00:14:08] I don't remember that either, but I can't imagine that not being scripted.
[00:14:13] Not that we're not clever enough to come up with something, but it just feels so specific.
[00:14:18] I know.
[00:14:19] And then Tamsin's like eating the paper and she's like, oh, it's coming again.
[00:14:29] I know.
[00:14:30] I know.
[00:14:30] What was I going to say?
[00:14:32] Oh, Chris.
[00:14:34] And when you guys, okay, so you're like flirting.
[00:14:36] And then when Zoe comes in the bar, when Lauren comes in the bar, you're like, I think she likes me.
[00:14:42] Like I might kiss him.
[00:14:43] And she's like, the fuck?
[00:14:45] She's like, okay.
[00:14:48] It's hilarious.
[00:14:49] It's so good.
[00:14:51] Yeah.
[00:14:51] And I mean, that is even set up with that whole, like, I love the scene when you see before that,
[00:14:59] when Bo comes back to Lauren's and you, they just, you can see this rhythm of couplehood happening.
[00:15:05] Like they're a couple there.
[00:15:06] She's getting home.
[00:15:08] She's kind of, they're talking there.
[00:15:10] So that kind of sets up that.
[00:15:12] That's why I just think it was perfect.
[00:15:14] I've got to call James Thorpe.
[00:15:15] Yeah.
[00:15:16] I've got to get him on the phone and say, buddy, you wrote a perfect app.
[00:15:22] Yes.
[00:15:22] Here.
[00:15:22] What do I have here?
[00:15:23] Yeah.
[00:15:23] I think he likes me.
[00:15:24] I wrote that down too.
[00:15:25] Oh, but you know what?
[00:15:27] I, one of the things I remember after this episode ended, I remember like my, my biggest memory of it for me performing was, oh my God,
[00:15:39] it was so interesting to play a character who got to have zero pressure on her for an entire episode.
[00:15:45] Like the character herself wasn't holding any weight.
[00:15:50] Like she wasn't like, oh my God, the Fae world.
[00:15:52] I've got to do, what am I going to do?
[00:15:53] I'm unaligned.
[00:15:54] I'm a succubus.
[00:15:55] I'm, you know, there was none of that.
[00:15:56] It was like, how am I going to kiss him or whatever?
[00:15:59] Like it was so actually freeing.
[00:16:01] You naturally have that very playful, like happy go lucky side to you.
[00:16:09] And I felt like you were able to really personify that part of you.
[00:16:13] I didn't have to like cover anything.
[00:16:15] You didn't have to be like, you know what I mean?
[00:16:18] Yeah.
[00:16:18] I do this and this.
[00:16:19] You just got like, okay.
[00:16:21] Yeah.
[00:16:21] Obviously it's like a heightened version.
[00:16:23] You don't normally act like that, but I mean like pizza.
[00:16:28] Or maybe you do.
[00:16:29] But, um, but there was so much of you in that, in that version of Bo that I, I actually agree
[00:16:37] with you.
[00:16:38] I agree with you.
[00:16:38] And I do my kids.
[00:16:40] It's so funny.
[00:16:40] Cause like, if I, if I am too playful, Levi loves it.
[00:16:44] My youngest, he'll be like, yay.
[00:16:46] And Sam's always like, mom, stop acting like a kid.
[00:16:49] It's weird.
[00:16:50] It's weird.
[00:16:51] I don't, I, he gets, it makes him very uncomfortable.
[00:16:53] Um, he wants to know that I'm in charge, I guess.
[00:16:56] I don't know of myself.
[00:16:58] I'm in charge of myself.
[00:17:00] Um, oh, I also wanted to say, yes, I eat my words from last episode because obviously
[00:17:06] they knew I was going to be a Valkyrie since it came out in the second episode I was ever
[00:17:11] in.
[00:17:11] So I guess I just didn't know I was going to be a Valkyrie.
[00:17:14] Maybe you didn't know.
[00:17:15] Yeah.
[00:17:15] No, no, no.
[00:17:16] I know I didn't know that was not in.
[00:17:18] Or maybe they didn't know.
[00:17:19] Or no, maybe they did know is what you're saying.
[00:17:21] They'd probably knew.
[00:17:22] Well, yeah, because that episode would have been written.
[00:17:25] Yeah, it would have.
[00:17:27] Wow.
[00:17:27] Like while we were filming the episode before or it would have been in draft.
[00:17:31] Maybe like that was blank.
[00:17:32] She's like, I'm a blank.
[00:17:34] And they never filled it in.
[00:17:36] They're like, what's she going to be?
[00:17:38] An asshole.
[00:17:40] I'm a unicorn.
[00:17:41] No, that's not going to work.
[00:17:43] The transformation for that will be weird.
[00:17:47] And I love in the storytelling that we become these teenage girlfriends that share, like you
[00:17:55] share your insane power with me in that context.
[00:18:01] It takes the edge off of it, right?
[00:18:03] I also thought it was so interesting when...
[00:18:07] Okay.
[00:18:07] Also so funny when we were playing spin the bottle and Chris, we were like, we've never played this version before.
[00:18:14] And Chris was like, uh-huh.
[00:18:15] And then when we kiss and his face is like...
[00:18:20] I know.
[00:18:21] It's so good.
[00:18:22] And then I love...
[00:18:23] Oh, sorry.
[00:18:23] Go ahead.
[00:18:23] We have so much to say about this episode.
[00:18:25] It was so funny.
[00:18:26] But I was just going to say when he...
[00:18:28] Then when you're sucking my chi and you're like, whoa.
[00:18:31] Mm-hmm.
[00:18:32] It's interesting because it...
[00:18:34] One plays into what you were saying where like Tamsin and Bo are these equals.
[00:18:39] But also...
[00:18:40] And I don't think even the writers knew it at this point.
[00:18:42] But that was the very, very beginning of like what would end up being a more physical, emotional relationship.
[00:18:50] Totally.
[00:18:50] Later on.
[00:18:50] But at the time, as I was watching, I'm like, maybe it was the next episode.
[00:18:55] I'm like, oh yeah.
[00:18:56] Still trying to push this Chris love story.
[00:18:58] Yes.
[00:18:59] Yeah.
[00:18:59] And I have notes about that too.
[00:19:00] I think it is the next episode.
[00:19:02] Yeah.
[00:19:03] What were you going to say about it?
[00:19:05] I was going to say...
[00:19:07] Oh, I love that spin the bottle.
[00:19:09] Because I love Zoe in this scene and Chris.
[00:19:13] I mean, I loved us in it too.
[00:19:14] But I love when Zoe comes in and injects Bo.
[00:19:17] And she's like, ow.
[00:19:18] And then Chris is like...
[00:19:20] And she's like, oh.
[00:19:21] You know, she's like exhausted.
[00:19:23] All this stuff has happened to her.
[00:19:24] And then Chris is like, where's the pizza?
[00:19:27] That's his last line.
[00:19:29] I also love Zoe when...
[00:19:31] I love how much they don't show in the episode.
[00:19:32] Like when she has to go up to get the swab.
[00:19:34] Oh yeah.
[00:19:34] She comes down and her fingers ripped.
[00:19:36] She's like...
[00:19:37] Like she's like falling into the wall and exhausted.
[00:19:40] Like there was so much that you didn't see in that.
[00:19:43] That told such a good story.
[00:19:45] I also cannot...
[00:19:46] 10 years later, watch Chris dancing to Hungry Like a Wolf and not die on the inside.
[00:19:53] Like I remember...
[00:19:55] I can so viscerally remember sitting there.
[00:19:58] It was actually weird to watch it from the perspective of on screen.
[00:20:00] Because all I remember in my memory is like sitting there looking up at Chris.
[00:20:03] Yeah, we were looking up at him.
[00:20:05] Yeah.
[00:20:06] And the thing is like...
[00:20:08] We've talked about this before on the pod.
[00:20:10] But when you're filming something on screen, it's maybe what?
[00:20:14] 10 seconds.
[00:20:15] But for Chris, that was like three hours of doing that.
[00:20:19] Yes.
[00:20:20] And all we had to do was just be jackasses and like sit and basically...
[00:20:24] Yeah, like play the drums.
[00:20:26] And I forgot.
[00:20:27] I love the line of like, do you hear Kenzie?
[00:20:29] Or whatever.
[00:20:29] So one of us says that.
[00:20:30] Like...
[00:20:31] And then when he backs walks in, he's like, Duran Duran.
[00:20:34] I don't know.
[00:20:38] It's so good.
[00:20:39] It's so good.
[00:20:40] I mean, I remember Chris being so nervous.
[00:20:43] Do you remember?
[00:20:44] Chris was...
[00:20:45] He was so nervous.
[00:20:46] Yeah.
[00:20:46] He was like practicing and...
[00:20:50] Which is so funny because...
[00:20:51] That's Chris.
[00:20:53] Like to me, Chris is the dancey, goofy guy in real life.
[00:20:56] You know, like he's so physical and like bouncy.
[00:20:59] Well, and all he had to do was be goofy.
[00:21:01] Like in season four, I think, and we'll get there eventually.
[00:21:04] But there was like a dance off that Tamsin had to do.
[00:21:07] And I remember they were like, okay, all you have to do is like dance really badly.
[00:21:10] I was like, cool.
[00:21:11] Normal dance.
[00:21:13] Try to do it well.
[00:21:14] I wasn't nervous at all.
[00:21:16] I just thought I was like, ah, I like this.
[00:21:18] And that's all Chris had to do.
[00:21:20] But he was like choreographing it.
[00:21:22] And it was actually...
[00:21:23] Which sometimes like that's...
[00:21:24] Like it's funny how we all have these like...
[00:21:28] There's like...
[00:21:29] Limits to what we can do as actors, right?
[00:21:31] I mean, like there's...
[00:21:31] Oh, yeah.
[00:21:32] There's things that are just harder no matter what.
[00:21:37] Even if you think...
[00:21:37] For me, it was acting juvenile like this.
[00:21:39] I remember really feeling the whole...
[00:21:41] Yes.
[00:21:42] I felt the whole time like you guys are doing this so well.
[00:21:47] And I actually really remember the line when I'm like Bo and Dyson sitting in a tree.
[00:21:54] And I...
[00:21:56] I...
[00:21:56] The night before I was like, I don't know how to say this.
[00:21:59] Like it was really...
[00:22:01] Oh my gosh.
[00:22:02] Well, I would never...
[00:22:03] You would never have known.
[00:22:04] But I get it.
[00:22:05] Like sometimes it's the things that like you think, why did you just do that?
[00:22:08] That's closer to you than anyone.
[00:22:10] Or this is close...
[00:22:11] You know, like even auditioning and stuff.
[00:22:14] There are certain scenes where I go, oh, I'm gonna...
[00:22:17] This is gonna...
[00:22:17] This one's gonna be a challenge for me.
[00:22:20] And my husband would be like, why?
[00:22:21] Like this, you've done stuff.
[00:22:22] And I'm like, no, no, no, no, no.
[00:22:23] There's something different about this.
[00:22:24] This...
[00:22:24] I have to get over a...
[00:22:25] Something to get through...
[00:22:27] To get to where I want to be, you know?
[00:22:29] So that we all have things.
[00:22:30] Like for me, I...
[00:22:31] Off the top of my head for Lost Girl was the car wash.
[00:22:33] We'll get to that.
[00:22:34] But it just felt so like...
[00:22:37] I don't have a choreographer.
[00:22:38] Like I need someone to help me with this.
[00:22:41] Yeah.
[00:22:41] But anyway, we'll get to it.
[00:22:43] Oh, yeah.
[00:22:43] I have a question.
[00:22:44] Yes.
[00:22:47] What...
[00:22:48] Have we seen Underfay before this episode?
[00:22:53] Um, yes.
[00:22:54] We have seen and talked about Underfay.
[00:22:57] In fact, I think we meet Underfay in episode one of season one.
[00:23:01] I think Bruce, who...
[00:23:03] Not Bruce, but Rob played in Underfay.
[00:23:05] That's when we started to have an understanding that there were Underfay.
[00:23:08] But what are they?
[00:23:10] I was there for all those episodes, but I don't remember...
[00:23:13] Meaning like in the podcast, but I don't remember...
[00:23:17] Why is someone Underfay?
[00:23:20] Uh...
[00:23:20] It makes them Underfay.
[00:23:22] It's like someone who can't physically blend in to the human world.
[00:23:28] Oh, okay.
[00:23:29] I mean, I think that's one element to it.
[00:23:32] It would be someone who has to remain in hiding, who sort of doesn't...
[00:23:38] I mean, the pig men couldn't even speak.
[00:23:41] I loved those pig men.
[00:23:43] I know.
[00:23:44] I wonder what they actually look like.
[00:23:45] I remember their prosthetics.
[00:23:48] It was really good.
[00:23:49] It was really good.
[00:23:50] I know, because it looked menacing.
[00:23:52] Yeah, it did look menacing.
[00:23:53] You know?
[00:23:53] There was just something very odd about it.
[00:23:56] It looked real.
[00:23:58] When Ksenia is being held by the three pig men, her eyeballs are so...
[00:24:05] I forgot how...
[00:24:08] She has white, blue eyes.
[00:24:10] She has literal wolf eyes.
[00:24:12] She does.
[00:24:13] Yeah.
[00:24:13] They're like crystal-y blue.
[00:24:15] Yeah, they were huge on screen.
[00:24:17] And then you have these pigs that are...
[00:24:20] I don't know.
[00:24:21] But they were so beautiful.
[00:24:21] It looks like if you could screenshot it, it would look like a piece of a comic book.
[00:24:26] Yeah.
[00:24:26] You know?
[00:24:27] Like really heightened characters and colors.
[00:24:30] Yeah.
[00:24:30] No, absolutely.
[00:24:31] I also thought it was really cool, like speaking of Ksenia.
[00:24:36] One, how she was like, oh, now you know how I feel being surrounded by superheroes all the time.
[00:24:41] And then her having this power given to her.
[00:24:46] But then also at the end, not really wanting it.
[00:24:50] When he's like, oh, you're there to protect all the forest nymphs.
[00:24:54] And he's like, it's a very big responsibility.
[00:24:57] And she's like...
[00:24:58] No.
[00:25:02] Yeah.
[00:25:02] Because it re-empowers her as a human.
[00:25:05] Yeah.
[00:25:06] Right?
[00:25:06] Yeah.
[00:25:07] No, that's true.
[00:25:08] I didn't even think about that.
[00:25:10] What do I have here?
[00:25:12] Us eating the paper.
[00:25:13] We talked about that.
[00:25:15] Yeah.
[00:25:16] I just had a...
[00:25:17] I wrote three times in different places.
[00:25:21] Wait, where is it?
[00:25:23] I need Sandy to do my hair every day.
[00:25:27] Sandy was the man who did our hair up until season three.
[00:25:32] Yeah.
[00:25:32] He left in season...
[00:25:33] He only did this one season.
[00:25:34] Yeah.
[00:25:34] So he did one, two, and three.
[00:25:36] And no, he was incredible.
[00:25:38] Yeah.
[00:25:39] Yeah.
[00:25:40] But yeah, the wall beside him sometimes looked like a serial killer's wall because it had
[00:25:44] chunks of different hair.
[00:25:47] A small beard or whatever, you know.
[00:25:52] I love also Emmanuel in this episode.
[00:25:55] First of all, could she look more stunning with that curly...
[00:26:00] Like she just looks...
[00:26:01] Wait, was it this one that she had the...
[00:26:02] I can't remember.
[00:26:04] I also like that Herve Leger dress that she always used to wear.
[00:26:07] You remember that?
[00:26:08] Oh my God.
[00:26:08] Yeah.
[00:26:09] Like she was like...
[00:26:10] So you know, for everyone listening, it's like that Herve Leger band-aid dress that was
[00:26:15] really cool.
[00:26:15] And actually, there's a few times during the show where I'm watching it and I'm like,
[00:26:18] oh, you can really tell the era that it's in.
[00:26:21] You know, like the cow neck.
[00:26:22] Yes.
[00:26:22] Yeah, yeah.
[00:26:22] The Leger band-aid dresses.
[00:26:24] Even the lingerie in an episode that we'll cover later.
[00:26:28] I think it's like four or five.
[00:26:32] Where the woman goes into goo or the man goes into goo and she's like wearing this like
[00:26:36] negligee.
[00:26:37] And I'm like, Victoria's Secret 2015.
[00:26:40] I know.
[00:26:40] You can see.
[00:26:41] I know.
[00:26:44] So it's so funny.
[00:26:46] Even if you try to look timeless, there's always a little date on it, right?
[00:26:49] There's always.
[00:26:49] Yeah.
[00:26:50] But she still looks amazing.
[00:26:51] Oh my God.
[00:26:52] She looks incredible.
[00:26:53] And she's one of the people who can wear that dress.
[00:26:53] I love her scene with Vex when he's like...
[00:26:56] What is it he says to her?
[00:26:59] He's like, you're too kind.
[00:27:01] This is me imitating Paul.
[00:27:03] And she's like, we all have our cross to bear.
[00:27:06] That was so funny.
[00:27:07] And I love her scene at the end with her and Casey kind of going head to head as the heads
[00:27:12] of the light and dark.
[00:27:13] I love how Casey just kind of goes up one side of her and down the other.
[00:27:17] And she just like takes it.
[00:27:19] And she's like, okay.
[00:27:20] Or whatever she says, you know, like, but she, she kind of enjoys it and hears him and
[00:27:26] takes the threat and, but like enjoys it too.
[00:27:29] That's why it was, she's just so perfect.
[00:27:32] She's a perfect character.
[00:27:34] Because I was thinking as I was watching that obviously Casey's the new Ash, but how
[00:27:41] long has Emmanuel been the leader of the dark?
[00:27:44] Because when she's talking to him always, because she's like, oh man, I miss the old
[00:27:49] days of like, I don't know.
[00:27:50] It was like pillaging or like whatever.
[00:27:54] No, she's been the leader.
[00:27:56] She's been the leader for like hundreds of years, I would say.
[00:27:59] I mean, I don't know exactly, but she's, she's been, she's the leader.
[00:28:04] Um, she's so good.
[00:28:07] She's so good.
[00:28:08] She just enjoys every bit of her badness.
[00:28:10] Um, and I just love the, the arc for Paul in this episode of like Vex going through this
[00:28:16] crisis of consciousness of his eat, pray, mesmer.
[00:28:20] He's going to go.
[00:28:22] I'd actually love to read that book.
[00:28:24] And I would actually love Julia Roberts to play him.
[00:28:28] Maybe not Julia Roberts.
[00:28:29] We have to think of who can play him, but, um, I just like, like Hugh Grant or something.
[00:28:36] Yeah.
[00:28:37] I feel like it has to be like a whacked out.
[00:28:41] Maybe Colin Farrell.
[00:28:42] Colin Farrell.
[00:28:43] Colin Farrell.
[00:28:44] No.
[00:28:45] What?
[00:28:45] Who's the other Colin?
[00:28:47] Um, no.
[00:28:49] Yes.
[00:28:49] Colin Firth.
[00:28:50] Yeah.
[00:28:50] I just love him.
[00:28:52] You know what?
[00:28:52] I was in a movie with him.
[00:28:54] I had one scene.
[00:28:56] I played Gina, the masseuse.
[00:28:59] And I got to massage.
[00:29:00] You got to massage his body?
[00:29:02] Colin Firth for the whole day.
[00:29:05] That was my, I was like, like for eight hours.
[00:29:09] With the nails.
[00:29:10] And it was this scene.
[00:29:12] He, it was him, Kevin Bacon.
[00:29:15] And I, he wasn't there.
[00:29:17] I was just massaging.
[00:29:17] I was like, what was the movie?
[00:29:18] I died and went to heaven.
[00:29:20] Yes.
[00:29:21] Anna's, you know, fantasy.
[00:29:23] Anna's one day fantasy.
[00:29:25] It was this huge scene in the movie that was cut from the movie.
[00:29:29] But so, and I was Gina, the masseuse, and I have to like be massaging him with oils.
[00:29:33] And then another character comes in.
[00:29:35] Alison Lohman, I think was her name, the actress.
[00:29:37] And she was amazing.
[00:29:38] And I'm massaging him, massaging him.
[00:29:40] But at some point he said, you know, he excuses Gina.
[00:29:43] And I have one line.
[00:29:44] See you later, Vince.
[00:29:45] That was my line.
[00:29:46] Say, see you later, Vince.
[00:29:46] I leave.
[00:29:47] And I may have told this story already on the podcast, but like it was directed by Adam
[00:29:51] McGowan, who's a big Canadian director.
[00:29:53] Anyway, I massaged Colin Firth for the day.
[00:29:56] And then that scene was cut.
[00:29:57] And before the premiere, Adam McGowan called me personally.
[00:30:01] I had one line in his movie, one line.
[00:30:04] And he called me.
[00:30:05] He's like, hello, Anna, this is Adam McGowan.
[00:30:07] I was like, oh, hi.
[00:30:08] Like it's totally normal.
[00:30:10] And he's like, I want you to know you're coming to premiere tonight.
[00:30:12] I see your name on the list.
[00:30:13] And I want you to know your scene was cut from the movie.
[00:30:15] And this is why it was cut.
[00:30:17] And, you know, you did a great job in it.
[00:30:19] This is like way before Lost Girl.
[00:30:21] He's like, you know, you did a great job in it.
[00:30:23] We had to cut the movie because of the storytelling.
[00:30:26] And I mean, who does that?
[00:30:28] That's really nice.
[00:30:29] I mean, the...
[00:30:30] No one does that.
[00:30:31] No one does that.
[00:30:32] I mean, it was so kind.
[00:30:35] Well, that was so kind because you would have come to the premiere.
[00:30:38] You would know you'd be so excited.
[00:30:39] And then you'd watch the whole movie and just be like...
[00:30:41] Yeah.
[00:30:42] But some, you know what?
[00:30:43] Some people would think.
[00:30:43] Who cares?
[00:30:45] They wouldn't even think of it.
[00:30:46] Or they'd think, who cares if she's upset?
[00:30:49] Well, there you go.
[00:30:50] There you go.
[00:30:51] So Adam Agoyan.
[00:30:52] A little thumbs up.
[00:30:53] I've got to contact him.
[00:30:54] James Thorpe.
[00:30:55] I've got a list of people to contact.
[00:30:57] And I love the very, very end of this episode.
[00:31:00] This is like...
[00:31:00] This is where like the perfect storytelling kind of comes to a bow ties.
[00:31:05] Not a bow.
[00:31:06] Yeah.
[00:31:10] When, you know, he goes off on his Eat, Pray, Mesmer tour.
[00:31:14] And Kenzie's kind of feeling blue.
[00:31:15] And Bo brings...
[00:31:16] Just brings her some cookies.
[00:31:18] Puts her arm around her.
[00:31:19] Like, because they're besties.
[00:31:21] They got each other.
[00:31:22] They don't have to talk about everything.
[00:31:24] So she just...
[00:31:24] It's just a gesture of that friendship.
[00:31:27] And so it like kind of ties that up.
[00:31:28] So this...
[00:31:29] I mean...
[00:31:31] This episode might go down in history as one of the most perfect in Lost Girl history.
[00:31:37] I would say.
[00:31:38] Yeah.
[00:31:39] You were brilliant.
[00:31:40] You nailed the teenage.
[00:31:42] Even though I love Lost Girl, there are some episodes where...
[00:31:48] Like, let's just be real.
[00:31:49] They're a little bit more boring, you know?
[00:31:51] And some episodes.
[00:31:52] But it's true.
[00:31:53] And some episodes where...
[00:31:54] This one felt like it went by in like four minutes when I was watching it because I was
[00:31:58] just so engaged with it.
[00:31:59] Everyone was really funny and cute.
[00:32:01] And like there...
[00:32:03] Yeah.
[00:32:03] There was lots of purpose behind everything that was happening.
[00:32:06] Foreshadowing.
[00:32:07] Foreshadowing.
[00:32:07] Whatever.
[00:32:08] And I was...
[00:32:10] I was super into it.
[00:32:11] So I'd like to know.
[00:32:12] I love Trick.
[00:32:13] Whatever the most thing things.
[00:32:13] Yes.
[00:32:14] I want to know too.
[00:32:14] I just thought of...
[00:32:15] I love this scene with Trick when Bo's like, I'm going to count to 100 in French.
[00:32:19] And she starts counting.
[00:32:20] Oh, yes!
[00:32:21] And then Trick's like, what happened to set?
[00:32:24] What happened to set?
[00:32:25] I don't know where she was like, un de toi.
[00:32:29] I got to go around because she doesn't know cats.
[00:32:36] I love it.
[00:32:36] The irony here is for everyone who doesn't know, Anna actually speaks French.
[00:32:41] Like grew up speaking French.
[00:32:42] I do.
[00:32:42] I went through French immersion.
[00:32:44] You can hear my French-Canadian in my counting.
[00:32:46] Oh, yes.
[00:32:47] My accent.
[00:32:47] You can hear your French-Canadian accent.
[00:32:49] You know?
[00:32:49] Yeah.
[00:32:50] Yeah.
[00:32:54] These are all my teachers growing up.
[00:32:56] Yes.
[00:32:57] So thank you, everyone, for listening.
[00:33:00] My God.
[00:33:00] We had a blast.
[00:33:01] I was laughing out loud watching this.
[00:33:04] Anna texted me saying I'm laughing.
[00:33:06] I was laughing out loud watching this.
[00:33:08] Laughing out loud.
[00:33:09] So thank you, everyone, for watching and listening.
